Micheal Lee Newberry, “Mike”, age 40, of Jackson, Georgia passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 1, 2023. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on October 29, 1982, the son of David Eugene Newberry and Dianna Lynn Sinclair Newberry.
Micheal leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, David and Dianna Newberry, and his brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Mirian Newberry; and grandmother, Martha Newberry. Besides being a son and brother, he was also an uncle to nephews and nieces. He was a cousin to 10 cousins. He was a friend to so many people that cherished him as much as we did. Micheal attended several churches. He was especially proud to be doing the Lord’s work by going downtown to feed and pray with the hungry and homeless.
Micheal was a very strong-minded person. He was fearless and he was determined to do what he wanted. He was always being told that he would have to work twice as hard, just to be half as good. Mike proved them wrong! He wanted so much to be just like his big brother, and we believe he idolized his brother. He was one of the most loving and gentle people we have ever known. He also had the faith and courage of 10 men.
Micheal loved to sing karaoke; he loved the excitement of the crowds. He knew no stranger! Mike would talk to anybody and everybody, they didn’t even have to be awake. He loved large family gatherings and loved to eat! Mike always said the blessing over our meal, which usually ended with several of us yelling “Hallelujah, Amen!” to get him to stop, but often our food was cold by then. He loved to pray with anyone and was quite good. We are so sorry that this happen to you, Mike. Just know that you will be forever in our hearts. We love you!
A Memorial Service to honor Micheal’s life will take place on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, beginning 6:00 PM in the East Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Pastor Terrell Scott officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:30 PM until service time at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome to be sent to the funeral home in memory of Mike. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.cannonclevelandfunerals.com. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, 770-914-1414.

I known Mike Newberry since high school at that time we were not as close. He graduated in 2001 and I graduated in 2002. Ever since we didn't catch up until my dad has passed back in 2017. Mike help us moved from Forest Park, to McDonough on Aug 10, 2018. There would have been times when he was still living in highfalls he wanted to bring some chocolate milk, or something to eat. Sometime if I had the money I would go down there and see him. He was staying with a friend of his in Griffin before he moved in with me ,my mom Mike moved in with me and my mom around Aug 2020. I can remember that day we went to the last football game at Henry County High (Warhawks) before it became McDonough High School (Warhawks, that last game at Henry High was on Sept 28, 2018 and we went to the race and this was my first time going to the race which was back on Feb 24, 2019. For my birthday on May 17, 2021 we went to to eat Mexican, me, my mom, Mike, and my other roommate Jonathan. I had gotten us a hotel room for the night at Garden by Hilton so we could use the hot tub. We had some good times. Love you brother till we meet again....

It has been many years since I’ve seen Michael. In school, he was one of the most sweet and kindest people I knew. Even back then, he never met a stranger and you could always count on a smile from him. I’m truly sorry that he was taken so soon
