Michele Backus

Michele (Paul) Backus, 82, of South Windsor, formerly of West Stafford, beloved wife of the late John A. Backus, died peacefully Thursday, May 5, 2016, at home, surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 24, 1933, in Hartford, daughter of the late Michael and Frances (Easton) Paul. She was a graduate of East Hartford High School. Michele had lived in South Windsor for many years before moving to Chatham, Massachusetts, and eventually to West Stafford. She loved to shop, spend time at the beach in Chatham, and was an avid reader. She was devoted to her family, loved dearly, and will be missed by many.

She leaves her daughters, Lori Trahan and her husband, Joe, of South Windsor, and Susan Joslin, of Ellington; her granddaughters, Jaimie Wargo and her husband, Gary, of Moodus, and Lianne Joslin, of Ellington; her great-granddaughter, Hannah Wargo; her son-in-law, Mark Joslin, of Manchester; her stepchildren, Cindy Kabel and her husband, John, of Stafford, and John Backus Jr. of Ellington; several step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; she also leaves her faithful companion, Luke. She was predeceased by her grandson, Michael Joslin; and her siblings, Gay Keeney, Lana Saponare, Jean Gallichant, Phillip Paul, and Michael "MP" Paul Jr.

Services and burial will be private at the request of her family.
