I am devastated to see this news. I knew Michelle when she was a junior buyer at Target. Together, we created the the first branded merchandise in Target - I was the supplier. She was dynamic, articulate and very determined and I have followed her career over the years. I am saddened to my core to hear of her passing.

Michele burned brightly in the Australian fashion business.
A savvy retailer and latterly entrepreneur, she had a genuine passion for fashion and did some amazing work through her various licenses, notably the Dita Von Teese global licensing deal which produced the burlesque star's first lingerie and fashion collections - a remarkable feat for an Australian company.
We spoke in some depth via Facebook direct message in July and shared some personal experiences. I just dearly wish I had checked in with her again.
It's a tough industry, never been tougher in fact and we have lost quite a few talented people in recent years.
That's quite some fashion afterlife. Take care of each other up there.

Michele, you always dreamt large and audaciously. We loved that and have laughed with you a lot along the way. You were an hilarious mimic and nailed so many characters we all knew with your laser beam impressions.
You were complex. Public and private Micheles were sometimes contradictory. We've been lucky to see both. A colleague who reported to you from one of your retail careers said you made her feel as though she was the only one who mattered when you spoke to her. You really listened. You could be the diva too. But oh how memorably.
Bali awaited again for you this year, as always. Your new plans were creative and of the moment.
We wish it had not got so hard.
With much love

Michelle was and always will be one of the most fabulous women I have known.
When I met her so many years ago I did not have any real understanding of style, she was someone I always aspired to be a little like. How she brought a scarf to life with effortless chic.
She walked her own uniquel way and will always be remembered in my heart for her beaming smile that would light a room.
Michelle always and forever a remarkable, sassy and authentic woman.
Rest in peace

For the past week I have been struggling to find the right words to describe my friend- to tell you about her and explain why this loss is so difficult to accept. Michele was special dare I say extraordinary . 30 years ago on the 7th Feb1987 Michele walked into my life, breathtakingly beautiful sassy and the most talented woman I was to know and remember for eternity Michele was the most selfless person I know she made me better and never missed a opportunity to encourage me, tell me she loved me and was always there to support and mentor me thru life. Mish was brilliant seductive dominant but most of all she was a defender of those in need. Saying goodbye to my beautiful Mish is like saying goodbye to my own soul - it is just not possible . I will forever miss her and always keep her memory alive in my thoughts .

She was the brightest star, the most glamorous girl, the most clever mind, the most creative spirit, and most of all, a dear and loved friend and godmother. Michele, the children and I will carry you in our hearts for always and we thank you for 25 years of friendship. Through our shared triumphs and tribulations, our good times and sad times, our very super fabulous and gorgeous times when the world seemed to be ours for the taking and through our deep sorrows ... we shared our lives with each other. We are truly saddened that you have left, though we are dearly grateful you are at rest in the sweet sleep. God bless you, darling. May you be at peace forever. All our love, Sarah, Alex and Olympia. xo
