MICHELE JOANNE KNOWLES
December 1, 1966 - April 24, 2016

Michele Knowles, affectionately called Shecky by her closest friends, was born on Dec. 1, 1966, in Redondo Beach, Calif. She ended her journey on this earth in Placerville, Calif., on April 24, 2016. She was preceded in death by her sister, Angela; and her mother, Darlene. She is survived by her father, John; brother, John Jr.; and her beloved little dog, Charlie.

Michele graduated from Calabasas High School in 1984 and then moved to Hawaii with her best friend Andrea Bernholtz, where she enjoyed island life and cultivated lifelong friendships. She studied massage therapy and various healing arts. She later opened a studio providing therapeutic massage in Placerville for more than five years. She made her home with Ralph and Susie Shoemaker as a beloved part of their family.

Michele had no children and gave her love to all animals. She loved to travel and spent time in Thailand working with elephants. She traveled to India and met with Mother Theresa and to London to study filmmaking. She was active in supporting "March 4 Elephants" worldwide, striving to ban the sale of ivory and the slaughter of these magnificent animals which she had learned to love.

Michele was creative — an artist, writer and all around loving and giving person making this world a better place. Those lucky enough to see the light shine through her will always remember her big heart and beautiful smile.

Michele will be cremated according to her wishes and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
