Michelle ROBINETTE Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 19, 2023.
Age 78, of Cambridge, died on 2/11/2023 surrounded by her children. She was a strong, caring woman of God. She was preceded in death by Ruth, Ansel and Anne Hammond, and John Lee. She is survived by her loving children Cindy (Rod), Wendy (Alan), Tony (Geri), Candy, Lyndy, Matt and Regina (Juan). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren (21), great-grandchildren (24), nieces, nephews and foster children. Michelle was a stage actress in her youth, and she went on to express her artistic talents in many ways, including playwriting, singing, and storytelling. She served the community of St. Paul for many years as a foster parent and daycare provider, while also serving on several mission trips. In 1998, she founded Robin's Nest Children's Home in Jamaica, which remains a renowned safe haven on the island to this day. She was our Mom, Nana, Auntie, Ms. Michelle, and friend, and she will be profoundly missed. Please wear something colorful and incorporating red when attending one of Michelle's Celebration of Life services to honor her wishes. The services will be held in person as well as live-streamed. The in-person services will be held on Saturday, March 18th at Riverview Baptist Church, 14 Moreland Ave. E., #2416, West St. Paul, MN 55118 at 11am with lunch to follow, and on Saturday, March 25th at First Baptist Church, 304 Main St. S., Cambridge, MN 55008 at 1:30pm with an ice cream social to follow. It has been a gift and privilege to have Michelle as a friend and mentor. Her zeal for the Lord throughout her life has brought countless souls to the saving knowledge of Christ. Her unwaivering determination to care for those deemed "unwanted" has inspired many others to lead a life of service. "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Ms. Michelle was a phenomenal and extraordinary woman. One who is hard to find and is almost irreplaceable. She has exhibit all the love and care that anyone would wish to have. I am privileged and overjoyed to be a podmom (caregiver) at her noble, Christ Centered Institution, Robin's Nest Children's Home from 2015 to present. I also had the privilege to met and spoke with her on different occasions when she visited her orphanage. Ms Michelle were truely an "Unsung Hero". Sleep In Peace until that great getting up morning. You will be greatly missed but your Legacy lives on.

Deepest and sincere condolences to her immediate family and by extension the rest of the family including us at the Nest.

Our hearts grieve with so many as we mourn the passing of Miss Michelle. How grateful we are to have known her. She was a true inspiration to us in her work establishing and running Robin's Nest Children's Home in Jamaica.

Her dedication and passion to providing excellent care, education, love, and the love of Christ to the children in her care was exceptional. She truly loved the Lord and was the hands and feet of Jesus. She had the same commitment to her beloved staff, many of whom are still at Robin's Nest since the beginning 25 years ago.

We were blessed to serve as directors of Robin's Nest for 4 years, from 2016 - 2020, to carry the torch for a time serving the precious children and wonderful staff. We count those days as some of the most rewarding days of our lives.

Miss Michelle was a role model, an inspiration and a blessing to us and we say thank you, Lord, for Michelle's beautiful life and the legacy she has left.

As I think about Michelle and how much she has done to make the world a better place for children to have a future. I knew her as a foster parent, As we met at various meetings over years of service in Ramsey County. She told me that she was adopting her last 3 foster children, selling her home and possession, and moving to Jamaica to start an orphanage at the age of 55. I asked if she needed help to make this possible and she said missionaries are always welcome to come and help. So I arranged for a team to go help set up the 1st orphanage and then returned several more times to help the children both at her orphanage and other orphanages in Jamaica. On one of my trips I took a team of medical staff and met a child whom I made arrangement to bring that child to the USA for medical care, and adopted him within the next couple of years. He is now grown and living independently, working, and contributing to the world. Michelle has made a future for so many in need. She will be missed, but the things she has made possible have changed so many children, who now have a chance for a more productive life. Helping others will never be forgotten. She has been a gift from God. Now rest in the hands of God.

I'll always remember when my sister and went to Jamaica to the Robbins nest and your mom was sitting in a chair and she had kids in her lap, on her arms on between her legs all around her hanging on her watching a DVD they got. And how she knew everything about each child. She was a loving woman. Huds and strength in your healing. Love you guys. Love kj. Hug my Jonnyboy for me miss Michelle when you she him. Tell him his mommy loves and misses him so much.
