Mickey Heffner Obituary
Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 30, 2024.
It is with humble hearts that we announce the passing of Mickey Thomas Heffner. Mickey was born August 11th, 1959 to Fran and Betty Heffner, living his life to the fullest in his 65 years here.
He spent most of his life in Lindley NY where he worked diligently to care for his wealth of children. We don't remember a time in his adult life that he didn't have more than one full-time job, along with his own logging business that he worked with pride - always keeping his children involved. Looking back, Firewood Express was Mickey's most joyful part of his career. He went out of his way to serve others through his business, while never hesitating to toss a few of his kids in the truck and drag them along. Don't let them fool you, they loved their long days in the woods with their dad, too. Alongside his own business, Mickey was the hot-end manager at Anchor Glass for many years, working every double and triple shift they would allow before throwing him out. He would take a nap in the parking lot, or even go deliver newspapers in between shifts when work was slow. Our father was a true provider. He spent so much of his life putting in true labor - a labor of love to always know his family never went without, and were blessed beyond measure.
If you ever met Mickey, we are certain you got an earful of him bragging about one of his children. A new business, a new baby, graduations, their athletic abilities...there just really wasn't a moment that he wasn't proud of them all in their own ways.
Mickey loved music and raised his family on a little bit of everything. You could find him singing out of tune any day to George Straight, the Rolling Stones, and even some Kid Rock. He probably wouldn't admit it, but he loved animals as well. He was always bringing us home another dog, until landing his favorite two companions that he found at the scrap yard. Our mother told him no, and he said "Kids, meet Bud and Bailey!" and of course, they stayed forever. Mickey loved to have fun, loved to drive Michelle crazy, he never passed down a good meal, and without any question loved each one of his children unconditionally.
Mickey is survived by his children: Mickey (Angel) Heffner, Mandra (Sean) Mayo, Amber Carey, Nikole Mays, Mieko (Calen) Johnson, Gage Heffner, Nikko (Natasha) Reep and Tristen Kitchin. Grandchildren: William, Alexander, Sean, Jordan, Russell, Wes, Lettie, Aamia, Aamor, Makaya, Blake, Colton, Kalani, Kamdyn, Kane, Corbin and Blaize. His siblings: Sylvia Heffner, Junior Heffner, Grace Heffner Sharpe, and his dearest sister, Doris Gigee. Mickey is also survived by his lifelong friend and mother of his children, Michelle Root.
Mickey was predeceased by both of his parents, his brother Marcean Mosier and sister-in-law, Sandy. With great sadness, Mickey was also predeceased his infant daughter Marlina Jo Heffner, along with his adult son, Sawyer John Heffner and grandson Oakland Heffner.
We are grateful that our father was able to make his way into Heaven on his own terms, surrounded by all of his loved ones.
Mickey's services will be held Saturday January 4th from 1-3 PM at the East Lindley Baptist Church with his cherished friend and Pastor, Sheldon Robyler, officiating.
Family and close friends are invited to join us the same evening (1/4/24) at the Corning Hilton Garden Inn (Banquet Hall) from 6-11 PM for a celebration of life.
Mickey wouldn't miss a chance to enjoy his friends and family together in remembrance of him. He was a legacy in his own time, the Clyde to a Bonnie, a thorn to a rose, but most importantly to him, a loving father and provider to his family. Rest in ever-loving peace, Cowboy.
In Lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the East Lindley Baptist church.
