It is 7 months later and we have only just found out about Miguel. He worked for us at Environment Canada for a couple of years (2006-2007) and I know it wasn't the kind of work he enjoyed the most. He was more the traditional research scientist. We still refer to his research work in our risk assessments. Nevertheless we are devestated to learn of his passing are heart-broken that he is no longer with us. Condolences to his family. Rest in peace Miguel.

Hello dear family Providenti. It is with a lot of pain and sadness that I knew about this news. Miguel worked with me at Environment Canada and I appreciated greatly his friendship. He will be missed a lot. I hope our pain will be replaced by acceptance. Sincere sympathy.

Dear Providenti family: I am so sorry to hear of Miguel's untimely passing. I had the pleasure of working with Miguel on biochar projects we had at the University of Saskatchewan. Such a thoughtful, considerate and caring person with a genuine interest in people and their well being. He made great contributions to biomass science and will be missed by all!

To the Providenti Family,
It is with deepest condolences that I write this email on behalf of my sister and I. We both had the privilege of teaching Bella. I taught Isabella in the AcTal program at Caswell School for 2 years and my sister taught her in the Science Trek program at Montgomery. Miguel was a supportive parent who was deeply engaged in Bella's learning. He volunteered on field trips, helped her study for tests by quizzing her, proofread her writing and so much more. He was her #1 advocate. I am saddened to hear of his untimely death. I know that he was integral in shaping Bella into the strong-willed, intelligent and confident person that she is today. We will miss you, Miguel.

I found out today of Miguel's untimely passing and am so broken for him and his two children. He lived on the "other side of the fence" between my house and his place. He'd come and go with his children and we'd often exchange hellos and chats over the fence. My parents stay with me often and my dad and Miguel had several talks about losing a job and the depression that can follow. My dad lost a business to a fire decades ago and struggled through the aftermath and he saw much of his own experience in Miguel and was concerned for him. We all were. And we were so sorry he moved away, being apart from Isabella and Oliver. He'd come through the back alley, carrying Oliver still in pajamas, to play with my cocker spaniel in the back yard and say hello. He stopped by before leaving when he moved to say thank you for the friendship and concern. We hoped a new place / start would offer opportunity, but we're heartbroken for him and this end. For Isabella, if you read this, I am so sorry for your loss. He was heartbroken at the idea of being so far from you. And for Oliver, I hope you can grow up and remember your dad and those walks down the street back to mom's or the bike rides... pancakes in pajamas. For the rest of his family, my family is deeply saddened for you. I'm sorry we didn't offer more to him...

Our deepest condolences to Miguel's family and friends ... we met Miguel, Allison and Isabella in Ottawa on Booth Street. We couldn't have asked for better neighbours and loved the Saskatchewan connection. Miguel had such a warm heart and you could always count on big smile when we met at our respective front doors.
Allison, Isabella, Oliver - Gilles and I are thinking of you during this difficult time ...

To the Providenti family,
Miguel was a collaborator on a large project with me at AAFC for a couple of years. He was curious, astute, and tenacious --- all great qualities in a scientist. Beyond the lab doors, Miguel was also a friend, with common interests in wine, food, and fun. I miss his charm and banter. He was so proud of his children and so dedicated to them. On several occasions he would bring Oliver to the lab, where we would look at things under the microscope. Oliver and Isabella, you had a truly remarkable father. I hope he has found solace.

My deepest condolences to all of you.
I went to WHS with Miguel. We had a high degree of intellect and never accepted things at face value. He always looked to find the meaning behind, which is likely why he had such a good science mind.
My heart goes to all those that knew this wonderful person. His stay was way too short.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy. I first met Miguel in 2010 (via phone) when we collaborated on a biochar related project proposal. I appreciated his hard work and thoroughness. Even though we had not met face-face at the time, I had an image of him, of a very intelligent and gentle personality. He always talked about his kids. I still have very good memories of the many evenings and weekends we spent on the phone, brainstorming and revising our proposal. I was very delighted when he joined AITF as I saw an opportunity for us to advance his ideas and love for beneficial microbes. He was such a nice and gentle person to chat with.

Although, since that time we have been scattered to different parts of the world, our thoughts return to you now. We wish you all comfort and peace.

My deepest sympathies to Cesar, Erika, Dad and also to Allison for this heartbreaking news. As you may know, Miguel and I stayed in touch long after he moved away from Montreal and we managed to see each other every few years. We actually just talked a couple of months ago. Today is his birthday so I tried to contact him, as I usually do every year, to no avail. I always admired Miguel for his brains, his humour and kindness and I''ve plenty of fun memories from sleeping over at your family''s house/s. He was a very, dear, beloved friend who shall never be forgotten. My mother and brother send their condolences, as well. Peace be with you.
