Miichael Albert "Mike" Snider

Lakeland - Miichael Albert "Mike" Snider, a devoted family man and respected community member, passed away at the age of 81 in Lakeland, Florida, on January 26, 2024. Born to William J and Margaret Snider in Somerset, Ohio, Mike spent his formative years in the embrace of his hometown before venturing out to make a life for himself and his beloved family.

A proud graduate of Newark Catholic High School's class of 1961, Mike attended the University of Kentucky. His professional life was marked by his dedication in the trucking industry and later as a bus driver for Polk County Florida Schools.

Mike will be fondly remembered as a "gentle giant" by those who knew him, a man whose love for his family was as profound as it was unconditional. He leaves behind his cherished wife of 62 years, Julia (Wildrig) Snider, and their children: Michael (Debbie) Snider II, Richard (Missy) Snider, Robert (Geisha) Snider, and Janet Snider Spively (boyfriend Dan Burton) His legacy includes 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, whom he loved deeply.His sister, Elizabeth "Cookie" Tate, and sister-in-law, Mary Wildrig, along with numerous nieces and nephews across the United States, also survive him. He was preceeded in death byhis parents, William J and Margaret Snider; his brother, William Snider; and his sisters, Margie Ratliff and Susan Stapleton.

A lifelong fan of football and an enthusiastic traveler, Mike also held a special place in his heart for Florida State volleyball. His hobbies were a reflection of his zest for life and his love of sport.

Mike was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where a Mass will be offered in his memory on February 7 at 10:30 am. Those wishing to honor Mike's memory are encouraged to make contributions to the charity of their choice in Mike's name. Mike will be laid to rest in Serenity Gardens in Lakeland Fl.
