Mike Pattillo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 19 to Jun. 20, 2015.
Mike was the "baby" of six children born to Mildred (Bracken) and Jack Pattillo. He lived most of his life in Skiatook, OK until moving to the Dallas/Fort Worth area in the early 90's to pursue an opportunity in the film business working on the television series Walker, Texas Ranger. He thought he'd make it back to Oklahoma but continued to be in high demand for commercial work, due to his calm personality, strong work ethic and good ol' common sense. Mike was such an extraordinary human being that he was lucky enough to have four families who dearly loved him. Mike left behind his spouse, partner, and best friend of 32 years, Anne Essley and their beloved son Max. Max and his partner Madison are expecting their first child, a daughter, due in September. She would have adored her "Papi" as did Lola, the faithful puppy who was constantly at Mike's side. Mike is also survived by brothers Jack, Phil and Tom, and sisters Kay Helm and Sue McCauley, along with their spouses Nancy, Geri, Debbie, Steve and Eddie, and many devoted nieces and nephews. Anne's family includes mother Metisa Wilhelmsen, sisters Leigh Poston, Ellen Schaefer, and Cynthia Swaim and brother John Ingram, and their spouses, Tony, Mike and Cavin, and more nieces and nephews. For 20 years Mike was always a gracious host of pool parties and barbecues at their home in Texas. The third family is a very large film and television community, with whom he had the pleasure of working for over 25 years. Many of them were with Mike to the end and continue to offer comfort and support to Anne. They are all very special and much appreciated. And finally, an extensive group of motocross enthusiasts. He enjoyed watching Max and his young friends grow and their riding abilities progress. He truly believed motocross was one of the best ways for a father and child to bond. He spent nearly every weekend for eight years enjoying traveling, practicing, and racing with his son. Mike taught Max many life skills and left him with an uncanny ability to deal with adults as a responsible young man. Mike was a most amazing man whose death has left a gaping hole in the hearts of those who knew him. His bear-like hugs and healing hands were a comfort to many and will be sorely missed. We'll always love you Mikey. Memorial in Skiatook Friday June 26, 2015 at 10:00 at First Baptist Church on Rogers. Texas Memorial date and details to be determined.

I always enjoyed talking with Mike, loved his calm, warm voice and the many truth's he spoke of. If you needed anything Mike would be there and give with a smile; happy to do it! I will miss him and the planning of our strategies we'd discuss about getting our kids (motocross racers) support for the upcoming seasons. In his passing he has blessed us in leaving one of the finest young men I know, Max, who has many of the same qualities we all knew so well in Mike. Thank you Mike for being my friend, I'll miss ya till we meet again!
