Mike Tokar

TOKAR-On Monday, March 5, 2007 MIKE TOKAR, late of Regina, passed away at the age of 83 years. Predeceased by his wife, Mildred, 2002; father, Anton, 1931; his mother, Maria (Kurczaba), 1956; sister, Anna, 1967 (Alex, 1969) Katrusiak; and his twin brother, Pete, 2003; Mike is survived by his younger brother, John Tokar, Vancouver; nephews, John Katrusiak, Vancouver and Joe (Joyce) Katrusiak, Toronto; two daughters, Christine (Rick) Tymiak, Regina and Sandra Tokar, Regina; son, Paul (Kathy) Tokar, Winnipeg; grandchildren, Sarah (Stewart) Zacharias, (great granddaughter, Madison), Brock Tokar, Grande Prairie, Tarik Tokar and Khas Tokar, Winnipeg. A special thanks to nieces and nephews from Rick (Christine) Tymiak's side who always called dad Uncle Mike Brayden and Brittney McNeill, Mackenzie Moore all of Regina, Jeff (Brittany) Keira Sibbald, Jason Sibbald, and Sarah Sibbald all of Lloydminster, and Godson Kurt Fellinger, Regina. Mike was born and grew up in Estevan on July 2, 1923. He began his 42 year career with Molson Brewery in 1946. Mike joined the army in 1943 and went overseas till 1944 when he lost his right leg in Caen, France and returned home. He could no longer work at the C.P.R. where he worked prior to enlisting in the WWII effort and eventually moved to Regina to work at Molson's and marry mom on September 5, 1953. Mike retired from Molson's in July 1988. Rest in Peace, dad you are home. Thanks to those who took care of our dad at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre. A sincere thank you to housekeeping, maintenance, cafeteria, security and kitchen staff who were our friends. We enjoyed seeing all of you on our rounds in the building. Prayers will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 7:00 P.M. in the Descent of the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Orthodox Church Sobor, 1306 12th Avenue, Regina, SK. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 9, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. in the Church with Rev. Fr. Brent Kuzyk, officiating. Interment to follow in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike's memory may be made to War Amputations of Canada, 2827 Riverside Drive, Ottawa, ON K1Z 0C4 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St., Regina, SK S4P 2R3 or to a charity of choice.
