I have just discovered Mike through a friend who knows how much I love this world and its wild life, my life has just changed today because I have read what he has written and its hit home in my heart hard. Now I have to change , I have to spread these words, especially in the face of Covid 19 dear me what would Mike think of this... he would be sadly shaking his head ....and his words.."The lessons will not wait forever to be learnt" ring in my ears. I am tingling from head to toe, I need to work out what I should be doing how can little old me help spread his words. Contact me someone tell me where I can go to help.

Have all Mike's books. They were wonderful.
My late husband who passed away 3weeks after Mike, thought he was a wonderful wildlife author and I agree. Reading his books again seems to bring me closer to my beloved John who really admired Mike. You are sadly missed along with your beloved Moo li. Rest in peace and than you.

Mikes books were one of the things that helped me though some dark years in my life. I'm a stronger person these days but his books are pride of place on my book shelves 30 years on. I'm so grateful to Mike.

Thank you Mike, for bringing such wonderful wildlife writing to print. Your stories of the wild have been inspirational (and intriguing) to me as a photographer. The adversities you constantly overcame in all your wilderness places, the animals and birds you befriended and cared for became my interests through your books.
"Moobli", was undoubtedly my favourite, well written to the extent that I accompanied you both on your gruelling trips to the "hill", to film your beloved Atalanta. Could any more be packed into one life?
Once again, thank you Mike.

There are no words for my grief. Such a foolish parting, so long ago, but oh! What memories! That time at Wildernesse when you showed me Moobli's grave, and told me you wanted your bones to rest with his. You still come to me in dreams my dear. Now with Moobli, the creatures we loved and cared for, and our lost child. We will be the "Ghosts" of Robert Service......My love forever. Your Jenny.

One of the true greats of nature writing. He instilled in me and no doubt in thousands of others, the true value and wonder of the natural world. Hope I live to see the day when 'Between Earth and Paradise' becomes firmly accepted as a set book in schools. RIP.

As his little brother, I always lived in Mike's shadow - and in the dazzling brilliance of the inspiration he imparted. He will live in my spirit forever. Thank you, Mike.
