Milburn Quinten Wilson, Jr.
October 15, 1924 - March 2, 2023
Waxahachie, Texas - MQ (Milburn Quinton) Wilson, Jr., (98 years old) also known as Butch Wilson passed away on March 2, 2023. He loved Fort Worth, Texas, but he was born in Jennings, Oklahoma on October 15, 1924, to Annetta Hosick Wilson Dickson and MQ Wilson, Sr. He had one sister, Rose Ella Wilson McFadyen. Butch would say that above everything else, his faith in Jesus Christ made a lasting difference in his life. After that, he certainly loved his wife, Mary Frances Warriner Wilson of Fort Worth, whom he married in 1955, and then in her last years cared for until her passing on June 9, 2021. He is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Ann Giles (Dwayne) of Cleburne and Vanessa Jane Larsen of Waxahachie. He also raised a stepdaughter from the age of three, Theresa Jan Pinkerton-Crabb of Phoenix, AZ. MQ has 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. One interesting fact about the younger Butch is that he skated professionally in the Ice Capades and even in a movie or two with famous Norwegian skating star, Sonja Henie. MQ also managed the Will Rogers Coliseum in its heyday and was the first manager of the Fort Worth Brahmas ice hockey team in its 1997 inaugural season. More importantly, MQ fought as a Sherman Tank commander under General Patton in WW2. He spent time in France, Germany, and Belgium and was at the Battle of the Bulge. A delight of his older life is when his daughter Kathy arranged for him to go on an "Honor Flight" when he was 94, a special celebration in Washington, D.C. for veterans. His daughter Vanessa cared for her dad these past two-plus years in her home with the help of her son Trevor Larsen, providing a secure and loving home for him. Respected by family and friends, he was a man's man, an excellent salesman, a golfer, a fisherman. He loved to help family and others in need. For years, he and Frances fellowshipped at Tate Springs Baptist Church, then at Park Springs Bible Church in Arlington, TX. MQ worked in the uranium supply business in Grants, New Mexico, then the oilfield supply business in the Texas Panhandle and Dallas for Rodman Supply. He worked for the Gourmet Wood Company in Fort Worth until he was 90 years old. Many will both miss and remember MQ very fondly.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 10, 2023, at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home, 511 West Main Street, Waxahachie, Texas. Inurnment will follow at 1:30 PM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
