Oxford - Funeral service for Mrs. Mildred Carter, 96, of Oxford, was held on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Jason King officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family received friends one hour prior to service on Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Carter passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at her residence. Survivors include her daughters, Marsha Deal, of Oxford, Gail Cleveland (Richard), of Colorado Springs, Colo.; stepdaughter, Jan Thomas (Kit), of Ocala, Fla.; grandchildren, Kellie, Jack, Todd, Matthew, Nathan, Jonathon; great-grandchildren, Roger, Jason, Colby, Carter, Isabel, Grant, Abigail, Truman, Sam, Addison, John; great-great-grandchildren, Madeline, Carter. Mrs. Carter had lived in Oxford since 1965 and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Having lived through the "Dust bowl" and the "Great Depression" it was said that her life would make an excellent documentary. She was preceded in death her husband, Marvin Carter and grandson, Michael. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund or Samaritan's Purse. Miller Funeral Home

I see Mildred (i knew as Millie) coming into the throne room now saying "Master" instead of "Marsha"! She has a young voice now and a lightness in her step. He scoops her up and says with a smile, "Yes duaghter? You are my delight!" : )
