Obituary for Mildred June Lindenberger Kline

Following a vibrant life journey of 94 years, Mildred June Lindenberger Kline passed away on September 17th, 2022, surrounded by her three children and loving hospice care.

Mildred (Mid and Millie to her family and friends, Grammie to her grandchildren) was born in Burnham, Pennsylvania, on June 27, 1928, the sixth of eight children of Edward Lindenberger and Mary Arnold Lindenberger. Her energy and joy in experiencing life were apparent from an early age. At Burnham High School she was a band clarinetist, drum majorette, and basketball star. She earned a business skills certificate after high school and used her expert typing and shorthand skills to document metallurgy testing for Standard Steel in Burnham.

In 1950 Millie married Clifford William Kline (Bill, Cliff, and PapPap to his family, friends, and grandchildren), and they soon followed Cliff's professional career to Michigan, living first in Flint, Michigan and then putting down roots in Midland, Michigan. Millie called Midland home for over 60 years, until Cliff's passing in 2016. She was a long-time member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir and worked in the church office. During a period when Cliff's career took him to Texas, Millie worked for Dresser Industries during the height of the 1980s oil boom. There she was one of the first to master, then teach others, the new technology of word processing.

Millie was an accomplished cross-stitcher. She decorated her home with many lovely handmade pictures and gifted many projects to family and friends. Her children and grandchildren hang their individualized, hand-decorated stockings every Christmas.

Reflecting Millie's enthusiasm for new experiences, she and Cliff also leave behind many picture albums from their travels around the world. Following Cliff's passing she spent her later years near her daughters, first in Winter Haven, Florida, and finally in San Diego, California.

Millie was preceded in death by her husband Clifford and her grandson Michael Negrete. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Bill and Karen Kline of Houston, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Mary and Miguel Negrete of San Diego, California; daughter and son-in-law Carrie and Steve Closs of Winter Haven, Florida; grandchildren Elizabeth Kline Baker and husband Ryan; David Kline and wife Hannah; Peter Kline and wife Janice; Matthew Kline; Rebecca Kline Langford and husband Sam; David Negrete and wife Hikari; Steven Negrete; Tara Closs Ohanesian and husband Michael; Ryan Closs and wife Taylor; and twelve great-grandchildren: Grayson, Charlotte, and Nolan Baker; Theo and Winnie Kline; Jesse and Penelope Rees; Leo Kline; Jude and Wells Ohanesian; Joelle Closs; and Lily Langford.

I worked with your mother at Dresser Industries. She and I were administrative assitants together. I loved your mom and truly cherishered the time getting to know her. She treated me like a daughter. I heard so many stories about you all and she did the same about my family. I finally lost track of her a few years ago but until that time I enjoyed her letters and our phone conversations which were sometimes difficult due to her hearing issues. May God bless you all. Millie was a wonderful person.

May your memories give you peace and comfort of your loved one. Words fall short of expressing my sorrow for the loss of your loved one. May GOD be with you all during this difficult time. 1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we have faith that Jesus died and rose again, so too God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in death through Jesus.
