Mildred Rooney Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 31, 2015.
After living a life eighty-eight years long beloved mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, and aunt Mildred Frances Ringhiser Rooney quietly passed away on Wednesday, December 30th, 2015. Born to Frank and Minnie Grisa in Gleason, WI on August 31st, 1927. Mildred made many childhood memories with her brothers Frank, Mark (preceded her in death) and sisters Verna, Edith, and Ruth. Mildred graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in 1950 with a bachelors of arts degree in music education. In September of 1949 Mildred married Harold Lester Ringhiser (preceded her in death) and together they had three children David Ringhiser (Janice), Marilyn Anderson (Robert), and Gary Ringhiser (Carmen). After the passing of Mildred's first husband the Lord sent Frank Waldo Rooney (preceded her in death) into Mildred's life and they were married in June of 1964. Together Frank and Mildred had Doug Rooney (Tamara). Mildred's relationship with God and her family were at the root of all she did. Mildred lived life with a deep commitment to God that was reflected in her relationship with her family, both immediate and extended. Mildred spent many years investing in the lives of others as she also had a deep love for the Church. She was passionate about the work of missions and served as the Minnesota District Church of the Nazarene missionary president for eight years. Music was an integral part of Mildred's being. For years Mildred was a public school music teacher and also taught piano lessons in her home. If you were to visit her at her most recent home it was likely you would find her playing the piano or teaching a friend piano lessons. Mildred is survived by her children: David Ringhiser (Janice), Marilyn Anderson(Bob), Gary Ringhiser (Carmen), and Doug Rooney (Tamara). Grandchildren: Jennifer Walker (Mark), Lucinda Bires (Rob), Karen Bacon (Jonathan), Janelle Dennie, Blake Rooney, Braden Rooney. Great grandchildren: Anderson Walker, Renae Walker, Garrett Bires, Gavin Bires, Ellie Bacon. Siblings: Verna Burton, Edith Price (Franklin), Ruth King (John), Frank Grisa (Rose). Numerous nieces and nephews. Her legacy will continue to leave its imprint as the generations of our family move forward. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made out to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries C/O Three Rivers Church of the Nazarene, 1221 Coon Hollow Road. Three Rivers, MI 49093.

My condolences to the Ringhiser family. My memories go back to the days in Merrill Wi. and time with David in Mo. You are in our prayers. Jim Murray and I just had a conversation the other day about how powerful the memories of your mom was from those days.

Will always treasure the time we spent together in Minnesota back in the 70's. Great memories of Lake Koronis and Missionary conventions, and the skits we did as Mollie Worm and Dolly Worm! Strawberry picking with Doug! I could go on and on. See you in Heaven, Millie.
