Mildred Stinnett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 16, 2014.
Mildred Stinnett, 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014. She was born Feb. 5, 1920, to Harmon Watkins and Laura K. Burkett Watkins in Fort Towson, Oklahoma. She married James Allen Stinnett in 1939. They raised three children and were married 61 years before his death in 2000. Mildred was a homemaker who excelled in interior design, gardening and floral landscapes. She loved her Lord Jesus and was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Her pride and joy was her family and she made a point to stay in touch with relatives across the country. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents Harmon and Laura Watkins; stepfather James Taylor; and six siblings. Mildred is survived by two sons and a daughter: Ronnie (Jean) Stinnett, Terry Stinnett Sr. and Dianne (Gary) Colecchi; her two sisters, Louise Gaylor and Pauline (Charlie) Potts; six grandchildren, Jason (April) Stinnett, Jess Stinnett, Terry (Brandy) Stinnett Jr., Jackie (Justin) Smith, Zachary (Susan) Dobson and Katy Dobson; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at Johnson's Funeral Home in San Angelo. Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Boyd Jennings of Green Meadow Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Mildred's family is deeply grateful to the staff at the Springs Alzheimer's Care Center for the loving care they gave "Miss Millie Vanillie." We sincerely appreciate care received from Gentiva Hospice, especially Isabel and Dustin. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 438 E.
