Mildred Dorothy White

Mildred Dorothy White (nee Daye) Mildred passed from this earth peacefully in Mount Saint Joseph Hospital on Friday, April 11, 2008, surrounded by her beloved Grandchildren Houston and Lindsey, her two Daughters-in-law Linda and Roxanne, her Step-Daughter Joan and her Son Kevin. At 92 years old and living independently, Millie was a true example of the hardy stock that grew up and lived in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. She traveled out to the west coast 52 years ago with her new husband, Melvin White, to give birth to her only child Kevin. Millie and Mel settled in Vancouver and made a life filled with friends and family. Those that would come to call Mildred a friend knew her as a giving person always ready to lend a hand when help was needed or an ear if someone needed to talk through something important to them. A sincere soul who believed that goodness would always prevail, Millie lived her life gently day after day and always had a smile to greet you and the warmest hug her 4 foot, 10 inch frame could give you. Mildred's friends, who were like sisters, will miss her greatly. She will also be sadly missed by the women in her life that were like the daughters she never had, as well as the many people who considered Mildred to be their adopted Grandmother. Friends can join us in celebrating Millie's life at Ocean View Funeral Home (4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby) on Tuesday, April 22nd. Viewing is at 1:00, with a service and reception starting at 2:00.
