Milton M. “Bo” Milford, III departed this life on February 11, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Bo was born January 25, 1965, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Milton “Buddy” Jr. and Joycelyn Gauthreaux Milford. Bo was a 1983 Barbe High School graduate and a proud member of the Band of Blue where he was often heard on Friday nights playing his trumpet. He graduated from McNeese State University: majoring in Criminal Justice and being a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. After graduation, Bo went to work for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office working in dispatch, patrol, vice, and detectives. He was also a member of the Sheriff’s Honor Guard. He then left the Sheriff’s Office after being selected by the United States Department of Justice to work as a Special Agent. During his career, Bo lived and worked in many places across the world and United States. A true patriot who served and defended his country in a civilian capacity in manners nobody will ever hear about. Bo liked all things country, his music especially, and keeping things simple and easy. He could quote just about any line from the movie “Tombstone” or the entire series from “Lonesome Dove.” He was an avid fisherman, duck hunter, and from time to time he would get out in the hill country of Southwest Texas for deer hunting with some special friends. But what Bo was most in love with was his family. Those left to cherish his memory are his two precious daughters Katherine Turner (fiancé Billy Palmer) of Lumberton, Texas, and Lucy LeJeune (Mother Marylyn) of Bell City, as well as two handsome grandsons James and Liam. Bo also leaves behind his mother and father, sisters Belinda Sommers (Bill), Gretchen El-Mogazi (Ricky), aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will miss him dearly, especially his gumbo at the annual Christmas Eve gathering. We are thankful for others who played a major part in Bo’s history: his ex-wife Tracy Watson Knight and his “adopted” son Todd Wilks. To all those special friends, both personal and professional…You are measured by not only your friends but by the length of your friendships. Bo accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and with Bo’s selfless nature, others now get to live through him as he was a major organ donor for he truly believed “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35

A celebration of life will be Friday, February 18th at 10 am. Pastor Glenn George will officiate. Rev. Harry Sommers, Jr. will speak as a family member. Visitation is Thursday, February 17th from 6 – 9 pm and Friday, February 18th from 9 – 10 am. All are located at University Baptist Church, 4505 Lake Street, Lake Charles under the direction of Zeb Johnson and Johnson Funeral Home. Bo will be laid to rest in Highland Memorial Gardens close to his grandfather Milton “Mutt” Milford, Sr.

Pallbearers are Bill Sommers, Ricky El-Mogazi, Billy Sommers, Justin Foreman, Scott L., and Scott W. Honorary pallbearers are J.C. Beaugh, Sheriff Robert Cartwright, Garrett El-Mogazi, Larry M., Art Mishler, and Todd Wilks.

The family would like to thank the physicians, the trauma and ICU units at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA), the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Honor Guard, Sheriff Tony Mancuso, and would especially like to thank his current working family for all they have done. Buddy said it best by saying “you’re the absolute best we have in this country, and we salute what you do.”

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington DC (https://nleomf.org/memorial/) as it was a favorite of Bo’s and displays the names of some of his close friends and fellow officers. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Matthew 5:9

Please accept my heartfelt condolences to his family for there loss of Bo. We started working together on Graveyard Patrol in the 80’s thru the time he left to go into the Federal Law Enforcement. Bo always preformed his duties as a Deputy Sheriff in a professional manner and was admired by many of his fellow Deputies. He was a Law Enforcement office who one would strive to be like.
Rest In Eternal Peace.
