Miriam MIRSKY Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 8 to Jul. 9, 2017.
MIRSKY, Miriam Kahn (1929-2017) Miriam "Mimi" Kahn Mirsky passed away peacefully Friday morning June 23, 2017. Mimi was born in the small town of Pelham, Georgia where she was raised with five siblings, as well as two cousins who lived for a time with the family. The Kahn household was filled with very talented musicians where the siblings sang, played classical piano, violin and other instruments. Mimi had a beautiful singing voice and was a coloraturo soprano. She majored in music at the University of Georgia where she graduated. Mimi moved to West Palm Beach in 1950 when she married Joseph Mirsky. At that time there was a dearth of classical music in the area and Mimi performed classical solos at her home and other locations. Even though she was busy raising three children, Mimi's love of classical music culminated in her being one of the founders of the Palm Beach Symphonette. She was also President of the Women's Symphonette and arranged concerts at the Flagler Museum as well as other venues. Mimi was also one of the original members of the Palmer Singers who performed concerts throughout Palm Beach County. After her children graduated from college, Mimi became a licensed real estate agent where she sold properties for over 35 years. Those that dealt with her came to understand that Mimi put her energetic personality and desire to help people into all her transactions. Many of the people that she sold properties to became her personal friends. Mimi was universally liked for her warm, southern personality, her genuine interest in people, her indomitable spirit and her unpretentious but classy demeanor. Mimi is survived by her son, William Mirsky in Houston, Texas, her daughter Norma (Mirsky) her husband Bruce Grossman, M.D., Brian Mirsky his wife Carol Deaktor Mirsky who live in Palm Beach County. Mimi has four grandchildren whom she all adored, her sister Shirley Friedman of Sandersville, Georgia, her sister Harriette Rubin of Kilgore, Texas and brother Jerry Kahn who resides in Orlando, Florida. Mimi is also survived by her partner of many years, Ed Palmer. Mimi touched so many lives. Anyone fortunate enough to have known her realized what a wonderful person she was. She will be greatly missed by so many, and her spirit will live on among many of us. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to TrustBridge in West Palm Beach. A Celebration of Life will be held next month at her home in West Palm Beach. The family will notify friends when this will occur. We did Mimi's Pest Control for over 20 years. The day that we went to Mimi and Ed's house was always a special day, as we would sit and visit with them. They always made us feel right at home. I never met a lady who was more friendly and kind. She was always my favorite customer. We will always remember her in our hearts.

Dear Norma & Family, Words cannot express the deep loss felt by Mimi's passing. Somehow, I always thought she would be the one that would last forever (like the "EverReady Bunny")!

I can picture her Hummingbird Wings in Heaven, flying rings around all the other Angels! I know she will be looking down upon you all and hoping that you remember all the Wonderful Times you had together! Please let me know when the Celebration of her Life will be. Love, Rhonda.

I had often wondered if your beautiful mother was still helping out with Real Estate. She was so warm and welcoming when we would come to visit.
Another KAHN is gone, Bucky passed a few years ago. Do you know if Mimi's sisters are still living?
