Mollie Wood Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 2, 2022.
We are sad to announce the peaceful passing of Mollie Wood of Cannington, Ontario on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, after a short stay at the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay. Mollie was born on March 27, 1934, to Charles and Hilda Bartlett in Dorset, England. A brave and adventurous young woman, she emigrated from England (alone) to Toronto in 1954, a testament to Mollie's independence and tenacity. She procured a position in the secretarial pool at Honeywell where she met her future husband and the love of her life, Keith Wood. They married in 1956 and settled in Cherrywood, Pickering. Following a move to Cannington in 1982, Mollie became a volunteer with Community Care Durham Region where she was recognized for 40+ years of service. She was dedicated to her church and the affiliated lady's groups. Mollie was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Keith Roy Wood, her parents Charles and Hilda Bartlett and her sister Chris Ward (Mick); brothers and sisters-in-law, Audrey (Mac Armstrong), George, Jack (Marg Bailey), Glen (Rene Wilson), and Burt (Ruth Cowan). Survived by her sister Mary Hatton of Dorset, England. She will be forever remembered and loved by a large family of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews, the Fuller family and many special friends. Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, December 13th from 10 - 11 a.m. at the THORNE FUNERAL HOME, 109 Laidlaw Street South in Cannington (705-432-2672). A Service to celebrate her life will be held in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment Necropolis Cemetery, Cannington. Heartfelt thanks to the Hospice staff at the Ross Memorial Hospital for their genuine compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Community Care Durham Region or Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.thornefuneralhome.ca
