Estill - Montague "Scooter" Clarke O'Cain, 60, passed away on August 6th. Born September 14, 1962, "Scooter" was the eldest son of Harold Adelson and Lawton Clarke O'Cain. He grew up in Estill and attended Patrick Henry Academy, Camden Military Academy, and The College of Charleston. "Scooter" excelled in marketing from a young age, earning the title of top salesman in his 5th grade class and securing the coveted prize of a trip to Charlestown Landing. It was one of many accolades he received throughout his successful 35-year career in sales with O'Cain Advertising. Surviving are his children, Adams Clarke O'Cain and Graham O'Cain Carr; grandchildren, Elly Rhea Carr and Easton Adams Carr; his mother, Lawton Clarke O'Cain; and brothers, Harold Adelson "Delson" O'Cain, Jr. and Lawton Laird O'Cain and his wife Monica Sanders O'Cain and son, Lawton Sanders O'Cain. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at historic Lawtonville Cemetery in Estill at 11:00 with a reception afterwards at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Patrick Henry Academy, 8766 Savannah Hwy, Estill, SC 29918.

Scooter, for the past seven months you have been a constant in my life. You helped me through some very difficult times and I'm so very grateful to have met you. You always told me God doesn't make mistakes. I still believe that but I certainly wish we'd have had more time. Time was on our side, we'd say...little did we know just how little time. I'm sad, so very sad that you're gone from this earth. Even so, I'm so very happy that I met you. Konner misses you too and you are always in his prayers. God speed my friend and I'll see you soon as my times up here!

I am so very sorry for your loss. Sending lots of love, hugs, and prayers. Scooter was a wonderful man. There is so much he taught me and others over the years. He was a great mentor and friend. Rest in peace Scooter. You will never be forgotten.
