Montserrat Miller Obituary
Montserrat was born on March 28, 1969, at the military hospital of Fort Belvoir, Virginia to Captain Alan and Clara Miller. She grew up in Springfield, Virginia and loved spending summers with her extended family in Costa Brava, Spain.
Montserrat received a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Politics from George Mason University before earning her Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law. She began her distinguished law career in the U.S. Senate as Judiciary Committee Counsel to Senator Dianne Feinstein before serving as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice, Immigration and Naturalization Service, through the Attorney General's Honors Program. She continued her work in immigration and data privacy as a Partner at Arnall Golden Gregory LLP in both the Washington, D.C. and Atlanta offices. Throughout her career, Montserrat was guided by her tenacious commitment to the rights of all people seeking a new home in the United States.
Montserrat sought out the friendship and company of people like herself: change makers with big hearts. Whether at the office, at church, on the golf course, on epic outdoor adventures, in her world travels, or paddle boarding on the marsh near her beloved house in Rehoboth, Montserrat made a lasting impact on the many people she encountered, creating lifelong friendships and indelible memories.
In February of 2018, Montserrat met the love of her life, Mignon Crawford, on a blind date. The couple lived in separate cities for less than a year before Montserrat left Washington, D.C. to make a home with Mignon in Atlanta, GA. They were married at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Atlanta on September 18, 2021, followed by a ridiculously joyful celebration with family and friends.
Montserrat is survived by her wife Mignon; her mother Clara; nieces Valentina and Gabriella Miller; uncle Josep Gonzalez, aunt Marivi Rodriguez, and cousin Oriol Gonzalez; aunt Marla Keesee and cousins Lorna, Jonathan and Danielle Keesee; countless friends and two devoted cats. Montserrat was predeceased by her father Captain Alan Miller, her brother Timothy Miller, and her beloved grandparents.
The family would like to thank her health care team at Emory Winship Cancer Institute and Georgia Cancer Specialists for their compassionate and professional care. The family also thanks Montserrat's fiercely loving friends who rushed to be by her side in her final days: Francki DiFrancesco, Anjali Chaturvedi, Mosh Nevins, and Kamala Vasagam.
A funeral service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church (435 Peachtree Street, Atlanta, GA) at 2pm on Friday, October 21, with a reception following.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to St. Luke's Episcopal Church in honor of Montserrat's ministry with the altar guild.

I am so sad to learn about Montserrat´s passing. She was our attorney since the late 2000´s and I always enjoyed working with her. She was bright, compassionate and someone I always looked forward to talking with. Occasionally, we shared personal stories and I felt quite connected to her. My deepest condolences to her wife, family, colleagues and friends. She was a bright light,and I will remember her fondly in the years to come.

I met Montserrat many years ago when she was working for Senator Feinstein. At the time, I was in college and had no idea what I wanted to do upon graduation. Montserrat was so kind and generously guided me through an amazing internship opportunity. I looked up to her for all of her accomplishments, but also because in spite all her important role, she was always so gracious and so very approachable. Monserrat was such a lovely person. I know she will be missed by many and send my deepest condolences to her dear friends and family.

Montserrat was an attorney with our firm years ago. She was a great attorney, a source of inspiration and joy to all and a great humanitarian. She introduced me to Nicki, a personal trained, whom I worked with for 13 years thereafter. What a fit!
She will always be remembers for her excellence as an attorney and an inspirational and joyous person.

Apenas han pasado unos días que recibíamos la noticia de la triste pérdida de nuestra querida prima Montse, quien nos dejaba físicamente tras una larga enfermedad.
Aún le recordamos alegre y llena de vida cuando nos visitaba en Algeciras, hace unos pocos años, con motivo de unos días de descanso por esta bella tierra, Andalucía, que ella tanto admiraba.
Y lo hacía acompañada por su querida Mignon, su prima Montse, su sobrina Laura y por Micha.
Fue un tiempo corto pero un momento vivido con la intensidad que provoca el reencuentro con tus seres queridos después de mucho tiempo sin verse.
Fueron momentos de compartir vivencias, proyectos de vida, risas y abrazos que vamos a llevar siempre en lo más hondo de nuestro corazón.
Poco tiempo después y, tras una dura pandemia, también pudimos compartir "virtualmente", con ella y con toda la familia, el momento, sin duda, más feliz de su vida. Su hermosa y emotiva boda con su querida Mignon.
Con esa bonita imagen, con aquellos momentos de tanta alegría y de esperanza, son con los que esta pequeña familia de Algeciras, su primo Roberto, su prima Pilar y su sobrina Ana le van a recordar siempre.
En el más sincero convencimiento de que la muerte no es el final del camino. Y de que nuestra prima Montse ya goza de la paz eterna.

My heart breaks learning of Montserrat's passing. I worked with Mignon for many years and was so happy for the both of them when their relationship developed...truly the definition of soul mates! I only met Montserrat on a couple of occasions but she clearly never met a stranger. So kind, positive and welcoming. I know she now rests in a better place, free of sickness and pain. Mignon and family have an angel in their midst, just as they did when Montserrat was here with them. Prayers for her family and friends as they navigate the grief of her loss.

Whenever I saw Montserrat at our twice yearly PBSA conventions she was always sweet, friendly and genuine. Her ability to herd us all at our Day on the Hill was epic! As a Breast Cancer survivor the news hit especially hard and the tears flowed. May her memory be a blessing.
