Morgan Derick Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 23, 2024.
Morgan Audrey Derick, known lovingly as 'Morgs' or 'Mo', left us unexpectedly on October 18, 2024, to dance with abandon in the streets of Heaven.

Morgan made her debut in this world on December 26, 1990, to Robert and Jean Ladd Derick, in Framingham, Massachusetts. She was born with a caring soul that she shared with the world, a deep love of all living things (except spiders), and a steadfast loyalty to her friends and family. She is survived by her mother Jean LaRocque and husband Greg LaRocque, sister Kirbie Derick and brother Ryan Heminway, her grandmother Carol Scoville and Carol's partner, Hans Walser, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is predeceased by her father Robert Derick, grandparents Floyd and Audrey Derick, Charles Scoville, Ronald and Patricia Ladd, and great grandmother, Helen Wills.

From an early age, Morgan was always on the move, excelling in several sports including soccer, tennis and track, and though she made an impact doing anything she tried, she was a force to be reckoned with on the soccer field, playing alongside her club team and varsity family at Ashland High School.

Morgan's passion for soccer continued in her collegiate career as she joined the Bryant University soccer team. She went on to earn her bachelor's in finance from Northeastern University. Throughout college she was meticulous about her studies and graduated with honors in 2014. She even found time to defy gravity competing proudly with the Northeastern Powerlifting Team.

Morgan sang and danced her way through every new opportunity, facing each new challenge with her fearless smile and unrelenting spirit. She will be remembered for the heart she shared with her friends and family. She truly loved each of them. And if you knew her, you knew it.

Morgan displayed an uncanny ability to make mundane tasks fun. She was a true lover of life and love; to her, life was a stage. She was known as Miss Hollywood, always a princess, and a true fashionista. She loved spending summers with her family on the lake in Canada, road trips with or without a clear destination, painting, raising a garden of plants and cacti (she lovingly called her babies), cooking but especially eating. She was an avid fan of American football as well as Premier League and UEFA futbol. She lived to make others laugh and was undeniably successful at it! She entertained with all her silly sayings, accents and facial expressions. To know Morgan was to love her.

"Happiness is only real when shared"

Morgan sought to find joy in the little things and share it with others. The family asks that you do the same-go out and do something that brings you real joy and share it with those around you. If you feel so moved, reach out and tell us about a joyful time you shared with Morgan!

A Celebration of Life for Morgan Audrey Derick will be held in the Worship Center at Faith Community Church in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, November 2, 2024, at 11:00 am. Morgan was my "leader" at my first sales role. It wasn´t a great job, but Morgan taught me everything I needed to be successful at it, and we always had a great time working together and making the most out of it.
I don´t think I would´ve stuck with that job if it had been anyone else there to teach me. Today I have a high earning sales role, and it´s all because of her being the amazing, motivating, and charismatic person that she was. My heart is incredibly heavy hearing this news, and I´m sure anyone who´s ever met her would feel the same. She was just that awesome. I´m truly grateful our paths had crossed, even if it was for a short while. Thank you for everything Morg

I did not know, Morgan, but I know her mom, who is a great and wonderful woman. I am sure that the apple did not fall far from the tree. I know it is truly hard to lose a loved one, especially a child. I pray for God´s peace and comfort for not only her mom, but her entire family. Blessings always, in all ways.

I am writing to express my deepest condolences for the loss of Morgan. The news of her passing has left a profound impact on me and all who knew her.

For many years, Mo and I shared the field, and our bond grew stronger with every game we played together. We were truly like two peas in a pod—she was not just a teammate but a sister to me. Her laughter and spirit made every practice and match unforgettable.

She had a unique ability to lift everyone around her. Whether we were celebrating a win or encouraging each other through tough times, she was always there, bringing her bright light and joy to our team.

I want you to know how much she meant to me and to all of us in the soccer community. She touched our lives in ways that words cannot fully express, and her memory will forever live on in our hearts.

Please know that I am here for you during this difficult time. If there’s anything I can do to support you or honor Morgan, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

With heartfelt sympathy,
Vanessa

Morgan was a resident at the community I managed. I will always remember our first meeting. Our meeting was marked by Morgan´s captivating smile, pleasant demeanor and eyes that revealed a bubbly personality. We didn´t interact much. It goes to show that you don"t have to know someone long to see they carry a special light that has a special way of brightening anyone´s day. I love smiley faces and whenever I see one, I will think of Morgan :-) :-) :-).

May the family experience God´s comfort and strength daily.

We met at a sleep over in 8th grade, she was the only girl I wasn´t familiar with so I invited her to the mall to get to know her better and we´ve been friends since then.
My favorite memory with Mogz is the time we went to her grandparents home in Canada, we went fishing, water skiing, played cards with her family and ate the sweetest corn.
A special moment I shared with Morgan is the time I called her after getting out of the hospital. I developed a rare autoimmune disease that caused me to have seizures, she was the only one who would check in on me and visit me. When I was finally diagnosed and treated I called her and asked what she was doing that weekend, she told me she had plans and I shyly asked if I could come. She was confused at the question thinking I was still ill and I explained to her that I´m finally well and she was sooo excited and made me feel really really loved.
