Morrill Stout Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 14, 2024.
St. George - Let's add a touch of lightness to honor the wonderful life of Morrill Gerald Stout, whose final tee time came at the age of 83 on September 18, 2024, in St. George, Utah. Born to Gerald and Evelyn Stout just in time to be a New Year's Eve baby on December 31, 1940, in Hurricane, Utah, Morrill swung into this world with gusto, charm, and a fishing rod in hand.

Morrill was a master of the greens, fairways, and lakes, and he'd tell you that his golf balls and fish tales were equally elusive. He helped coach the Valley High School golf team to two state championships. He was a wizard with a one-liner and could hook you with a story before you knew you were caught.

In the game of love, Morrill's heart was a wandering ball. After high school he married Karren Chamberlain they had five children and later divorced. Morrill then married Judith Ogden Horne. They were together for many years until her death in 2007. He spent the last 15 years happier than he could have imagined with his soulmate, Suzanne Skaling Ladieu. They shared a romance full of fishing, golfing, love and laughter until Sue's too-soon departure earlier in April 2024.

Morrill wore many hats in his career- Nevada Ready Mix, warming hearths with Woodsman Stoves, and being the CEO of charisma. He was Hurricane High School's sports hero and graduated with more than just a diploma-he left with a lifetime's worth of teammates and fans.

Survived by his children, Steven (Sandi Stout), Tracy (Gary) Erickson, Lonnie Stout, Teri (Jeff) Webb, and Hal (Mercy) Stout, his brother, Jerry Stout, many grandchildren and close friend and brother-in-law Tony Ogden. Morrill joins his parents, brother Lynn, and sisters Alice, Mina, and Francell, along with his daughter Lori and grandaughter Ashlee.

Big thanks to the caddies at Dixie Hospice for carrying his bag on the final fairway.

We're hosting a '19th hole' celebration for Morrill at the Coral Canyon Golf Course, located at 1925 N Canyon Greens Drive, Washington, UT, on Thursday, October 24th, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Swing by to share a story, crack a joke, and tip your cap to a man who played the course of life with gusto, grace. A life well lived.

We met Morrill and Sue at Coral Canyon when we got paired up on the 1st tee.
They were so nice to us and as we played they told us about the little cactus wren nest and we saw her babies. As we continued they told us about the rainy season and how some of the dry ground turned into a fast moving creek.
When we finished the round, they invited us to the clubhouse for a drink, and we were so happy we did. Morrill had us laughing with his stories. Both were so generous to invite us back and even though we never did, we kept in touch. Our condolences go out to the entire family and we were very thankful to have met them.
