Morris Cangemi Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 26, 2011.
Morris Cangemi went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, December 23, 2011 at the age of 86.

He was born to Joe and Rosie Sciacca Cangemi on November 24, 1925, in Leesville, Louisiana, and was a graduate of Sam Houston High School in Houston. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II.

Morris worked for Nabisco, Co. in Houston for 39 years, retiring in 1988.

Morris's assurance of salvation was based on God's grace through His son, Jesus. He was a faithful member of Sawdust Road Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Throughout his life, Morris service to the Lord involved many ministries, including care for the elderly and convalescing, prison ministries, bus ministries, Open Door Missions, and the Star of Hope.

Morris loved all sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and Texas Longhorns. He also loved music that honored the Lord which he frequently played on his harmonica.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Tony DeGeorge, Nat Cangemi, and Johnny Cangemi; sisters Lena DeGeorge, Jeanette Ready and Doris Haight; and grandson Tony Cangemi. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jean; son Ron and wife Marie; son Bill and wife Carolene; daughter Brenda Fink and husband Chuck; son Jerry and wife Joanna; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sister Mary Lou Kelley; and many nephews and nieces. His lovingkindness will be greatly missed by all.

A visitation will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, December 28 at Forest Park The Woodlands, 18000 Interstate 45 South, Houston, TX 77384 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.

I am saddened by the loss of my good friend, Morris. I always respected him for his strong believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. We worked side by side for many years. May the Lord receive him with open arms.

We are saddened by the loss of this special man, and pray that God will give his family the grace and comfort needed during this time of grief. However, we can all be assured that he has finally reached his heavenly home and is cradled in the welcoming arms of Jesus.

I have such mixed emotions while writing this, on the one hand I am so saddened that we will not see Bro. Morris any more in church, seeing his wonderful smile and making sure his wife was ok, on the other hand I know he is in a place where we will see him again, he is with our savior and out of pain and suffering. Love and prayers to the family
