Morris Morvant Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 4, 2009.
Graveside services were held February 6, 2009 at Lafayette Memorial Park for Morris Morvant, Jr. who died suddenly at his residence, Village Du Lac, in Lafayette, Louisiana. Morris was born February 8, 1941 and died February 4, 2009 at 6:00 pm. Morris was the son of the late Morris Morvant and Laura Belle Morvant. Morris loved life, his family and his friends. He especially loved his Lake Charles family who received him so well. Morris never met a stranger. He loved to give a party on his birthday not for himself, but for his friends in the village. He was very giving and willing to help all. He will be missed. Although his journey through life was sometimes hard, he never gave up. Since 1984 he was aided by his sisters Arleen and Mary as well as his brother Billy. Morris is survived by his sisters Arleen Picard, Mary Dronette, Joyce Simon, and Brenda Morvant, one brother Bobby Morvant, a brother-in-law Roy Cooper, the Cooper family as well as several nieces and nephews. Morris is proceeded in death by his wife Brenda Cooper Morvant, his parents, two brothers, Raymond Morvant and William "Billy" Morvant, his mother-in-law and his father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Cooper and brother-in-law Ed Picard. He attended Cathedral School and Lafayette Public Schools. At a young age he worked at the Daily Advertiser and Huval Baking Company. He later worked for Cooper Electric, Travel Host Lodge and Acadiana Bakery. His hobbies were tending to his friends and bowling. He was very proud of that. The family would like to thank all the residents and staff at Village Du Lac who not only befriended him but also assisted with his needs such as transportation and companionship. Morris loved all of you dearly. Delhomme Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. We also thank Mr. Danny Delhomme of Lafayette Memorial Park for his assistance.
