Morton Richard Bergen, 91, of Oxford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 2, 2016. He was born May 25, 1925 in Oxford, NC to the late Solomon & Polly Bergen.
Mort served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. Owned and operated Bergen's Clothing Store in Oxford for over 50 years. Mort was also a residential home developer, developing Rollingwood Subdivision. He named the main road "Polly Drive" after his mother. He was deeply loved and cherished by his children & grandchildren. He will be remembered for his strong commitment to family, education, and the community.
Mort was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Louna Bergen. He is survived by his two sons; Ron Bergen (Carmen) and Howard Bergen (Stephanie); 5 grandchildren, Andrew, Jake, Benjaman, Aliyah, Lev, and his beloved sister, Alice Wallack.
A graveside service will be held Sunday June 5, 2016 at 1:00pm at Raleigh Hebrew Cemetery, 450 N. State St., Raleigh, NC 27604.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.

I don´t know you guys but found this photograph at goodwill and I believe that it was signed by Morton. I was about to sell it, but my Grandaddy passed a few years back and he served too. I figured I might be able to ship it too yuall, if you are interested
