Alaina Amber Henderson was born into a plethora of love on April 5, 1995, in Clinton Township, Michigan to Brian Henderson and Den’Mica Eugene. She was a natural born leader that set a wonderful example of growing and evolving with life.
As the oldest daughter she is survived by her Mother Den’Mica Eugene, Father Brian Henderson, Stepfather Jamesly Eugene, Grandparents Douglas Henderson, Barbara Henderson, Amie Thomas, and Gary Thomas. She is also survived by her sisters Brina Henderson, Lai’Loni Eugene, Jaitoura Rodriguez, Anissah Eugene, and an entire village full of aunties, uncles, cousins, and loving friends. As an auntie, she is survived by her nephew Cairo Henderson who she spoiled with an abundance of love, toys, pampering, laughter, and snuggly kisses.
As a constant seeker of knowledge for personal growth and an avid reader with tons of books, Alaina received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English, in 2017 from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Additionally, she was influenced by her auntie to pursue law, thus graduating with her juris doctorate from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2020.
While simultaneously studying for the bar, she was proud to consult for Thomson Reuters, where the company sought out her expertise as a Legal Research Analyst and Editor. Seeking to grow in her career, while recognizing her potential earning power was far greater than she realized, Alaina relentlessly started interviewing and went through a competitive hiring process to proudly land the role as a Legal Content Writer for the company ComplySci, where she was ready to add value to the company’s innovative compliance software.
There were several noteworthy nicknames for Alaina, due to her playful personality and outgoing spirit. She was known as Lain, Baby Girl, Turtlelain, Ali-ana, Laina, Baby, Laina Lane, LainaPaw, Amber, Turtle, Cheeks, Pie Face, Little Granddaughter, Granddaughter, Little Head, Big Head and Applehead.
Applehead loved animals and nature. Playing with the family dogs, Orie and Chanel, they brought her much joy. One of her favorite animals was the turtle and her favorite flower was the sunflower. Over the years, Alaina would spend time bonding with birds, her pet turtle, fish, and all the family pets. Anyone who knew her, knew she constantly displayed numerous images of turtles and sunflowers on her computer, through visual art, via jewelry and various other places.
Alaina was a role model and BFFs to her sisters. They were always “joined at the hip” and at any given time you can find them giggling, huddled together while texting each other, visiting the surrounding cities while enjoying the social scenes, and taking a plethora of selfies or videos.
Experiencing the world, Alaina enjoyed traveling and one noteworthy trip was an adventurous journey to Dubai and Thailand with her best friend Osjah Brown. They spent time parasailing, ziplining, visiting an elephant sanctuary, as well as bravely posing with tigers. Alaina and Osjah also enjoyed an amazing cruise where they visited Cozumel and Playa del Carmen.
The love of Laina Lane’s life was Marcus McPherson. She recently moved to San Antonio, TX to be closer to him. As high school sweethearts, they attended prom together and as young adults they were planning the next journey of their lives.
While Alaina passed away on September 11, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas, her legacy will live on through family, friends, and all the people she touched with her positive outlook on the world.

You was a beacon of light on this earth Beautiful Laina and you will now be a beacon of light in the heavelies. I didn't know you personally, but just like everyone else, I feel like I've known you forever through your pictures and videos along with all of your family Beautiful attributes to you. My heart hurts and I'm sure thousands of others feel the same, but I know if God would ask you...do you want to go back, after seeing Heaven the answer will be no. So, enjoy your beautiful sleep with the Lord. We all will meet again. ❤

Alaina, my darling and lovable granddaughter, I loved her so much from the day I saw her "little" face at the hospital. She grew to be such a loving, kind, caring, humble, compassionate , intelligent young lady. She loved the Lord and was so receptive to scriptures I sent every day to her. She was a ray of sunshine in our family. In addition to all that's been said she was beautiful inside and out and was smart as a whip as the old folks use to say, she was a "quick study".
Grandma Barbara and Granddad Douglas will miss you but we will always, always love you....we thank God for you, Alaina you changed our lives.
