Muriel Don

Muriel Don September 18, 1925 to December 20, 2015 Muriel Don passed away peacefully on December 20, 2015 at Peace Arch Hospital at age 90 following complications from a stroke. She was predeceased by her husband Jim in 2010. She is survived by her daughters Kathy (Kendall) and Kelly (Shelley) and son Jim (Lisa) and grandchildren Lisette, Leila, Michael, Adam and Brendan. She will also be missed by her nephew Russ and her niece Linda and her many friends in the White Rock/South Surrey Area. Muriel grew up on a small farm just outside Winnipeg. After graduating from Kelvin High School in 1942 Muriel attended secretarial college and got a job at the Manitoba Telephone Company. After the war ended, she moved to Vancouver and started working at the BC Electric Company where she met Jim, a young engineering summer student. After Jim's graduation from UBC Engineering in 1952, they married and moved to Sarnia, Ontario to start their family. They later moved to Houston, Texas and Fort McMurray, Alberta before retiring to the White Rock area. Muriel and Jim enjoyed many years of travelling to all parts of the world and after Jim's passing Muriel continued to travel with her two daughters on many cruises. Muriel was also very active with her bridge groups, the book club, the South Surrey Garden Club, Probus and the Peace Arch Hospital Auxiliary. A celebration of Muriel's life will be held at Morgan Creek Golf Course, 3500 Morgan Creek Way, Surrey, BC, on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BCSPCA or the Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society.
