Muriel Lobb Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 7, 2023.

Muriel Olive (Knoch) Lobb, a prominent, deeply regarded, and lifelong resident of Lincoln Park, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the age of 105 years.

Muriel was born on October 31, 1917 to the late Clinton and Olive Knoch in Lincoln Park, Michigan. While attending Lincoln Park High School, Muriel met the love of her life, the late Edwin S. Lobb. After marrying her high school sweetheart, she remained faithful to the community they both loved and raised their beautiful family here. The charming Lincoln Park home they built together remained her home until her passing. Muriel was the beloved mother of the late Daniel Edwin, the late Jeanne Olive, and the late Ronald Clinton. She cared deeply for her beloved cat, Kiko, who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by grandson Jeffrey Ronald Lobb. Muriel will be forever remembered by her 4 surviving grandchildren Brian Edwin Lobb, Amy Jeanne Larion, Sarah Jeanne Bond, and Jason Clinton Lobb and 6 surviving great-grandchildren Rachel, Jake, Chelsea, Elle, Lucy, and Olive.

Throughout Muriel’s life, she built a beautiful legacy of hard work. Following in her father’s footsteps, who began Clinton Knoch Florist, Muriel continued serving the community through her own co-ownership of Flowers by Lobb. Through her working years, she helped our community commemorate the moments of our lives through stunning floral arrangements. This flower shop remains the longest continuously family-operated business in Lincoln Park.

Muriel was faithful to her community and served in many organizations. Being a proud female business owner, she was a prominent member of the Business Professional Women’s Club, in which she held numerous committee chairs and positions. Also, her passion for gardening drove her to be an active member of the Lincoln Park Garden Club and several other florist organizations. Her involvement throughout the community continued to be a beacon as it changed over the years. Muriel was a member of the Lincoln Park Exchange Club. She served as Secretary of the Lincoln Park City Council for many years. Muriel also had a deep passion for the history of Lincoln Park. The Lincoln Park Historical Museum was honored to have her serve as its Director and a Board Member. Her desire to preserve history included, but was not limited to, her service to numerous committees related to the preservation of the Museum facility and its history of her beloved community and residents. Along with preserving the past, she longed to preserve the future of the City of Lincoln Park. Muriel served on countless committees over the years related to the betterment of Lincoln Park. In the 1960’s, she was involved in the Parent Teacher Association advocating for the advancement of the Lincoln Park School System.

In her later years, she never let retirement slow her down. She remained active in her community and even drove herself and friends around when she was in her 90’s. Muriel was a long-standing member of First United Methodist Church of Lincoln Park, where she served on countless committees and joyfully participated in church activities. Strength, vibrance, and determination defined Muriel’s long life and serve as an inspiration to all who knew her.

The family wishes to send a special thank you for the outpouring of love and compassion to the Lincoln Park community and everyone who loved Muriel. To honor her final wishes, no public visitation or memorial will be scheduled. A private interment will take place at Michigan Memorial Cemetery.

I lived in Allen Park for 18 years and certainly do remember her from The Lincoln Park Museum and from the flower shop: a friendly person of taste, style and enthusiasm. My condolences to the family and I join many hundreds of people in being grateful for her long, productive and inspiring life.

The Crowe family extends our heartfelt condolences to Miss Muriel's family. Her passing is truly the end of an Era for Lincoln Park. From corsages to bouquets, funeral sprays for my daughter and parents, it always was perfectly created by Lobb Florists. Miss Muriel, in fact, designed and created my beautiful wedding bouquet in 1980! Lobb Florist was the go- to for my family and everyone we knew downriver. Blessings be upon the family as you celebrate yet mourn her beautiful life.

Thank you dear lady for all of your commitment to our community.
Thank you also, for the many flowers that graced our family events, both in happiness, and sadness.
You even helped this very nervous high school boy pick out that important first corsage.
May you rest in God's arms.

Amy & Brian and families: Words are so inadequate during this time. Your hearts are hurting because she’s been with all of you for so long. Knowing she’s now with her husband and children is a blessing in so many ways. Our love and prayers with all of you. Love, Mary Ellen & Fran Rodgers
