Grandma has such a joyful and beautiful spirit, and is someone I've always admired and looked up to. I shared her love of music, the piano and jazz and have fond memories of her at the piano, directing my sister and I to a tune she loved to sing "Heel, Toe and Away We Go!" We had so much fun together, and I see so much of her spirit in my daughters, and Kate, my eldest even shares her birthday. We will be thinking of you every day Grandma, I miss you so much but somehow I feel you are still near and joining in our laughter and fun as always.

Friends of Muriel lament the passing of this great lady fireball. She lived all her life to the fullest. She was a sprite, full of vigor and upbeat charm always with her close
friends like:
Margot,Penny,Cynthia and myself-Eileen.
These words of Margot ring so true describing cherished Muriel for me.
We loved her like family and
she took part in our celebratory events/marriage and baby arrivals and much more and were with her on her 90th birthday.
We first meet in Campbell
River over 40 years ago,I in
my 30s and Muriel mid 50s-
fun times hiking, xcountry skiing,winemaking,partying..
She was a role model for me no holes bared to live such a fulfilling life thru middle age years into senior ones. She did break female barriers for me.
My last visit with Cynthia a couple of months ago at the Cumberland lodge was so
memorable watching her play
the piano from memory.
With great regret I and my
family cannot attend the funeral this Monday. I would like to make a donation in Muriel's name
to the MS society if informed where to direct it.
Dear Muriel Watts rest in peace in your 95th year March16,2015.
Condolences to all her family members and other
friends.
Love and reagards from
Eileen and Alan Harrison,
adult children-Will & his family and Marybeth.

I met Muriel 17 years ago as one of my original neighbours upon moving to the Comox Valley. Sadly for me, I was widowed only one year later, but thankfully, I was blessed with a lovely neighbour, Muriel.
She was just short of 80 years young then and loved working in her yard. She would often give me tips for doing my own yard work, which I truly appreciated!
She loved to drive and enjoyed showing me many of the beautiful sights around the valley. As friends we golfed, shopped, shared many meals and after work glasses of wine together, either on her deck or mine.
When I was dragon boating for 3 years, she was there supporting our team at the competitions, being our time keeper, tracker of races, photographer, and joining in on our more leisurely paddles.
Up until only a few years ago, she would walk from the top of our hill where we lived, down to the downtown shopping area and back. She also curled and was presented an award for being one of oldest curlers on the league.
When having to give up some things that she was once able to do so readily, she would readjust, accepting her new situation, and always making the best of it. Through it all, she always kept her sense of humor even in her last days at the Cumberland lodge.
My last visit with her recently was on a beautiful sunny day in the lodge's garden area, with the spring bulbs just coming up in the planters. After enjoying a little visit, she strolled in her wheel chair stopping now and again, looking at the new growth and taking everything in. To me this was so indicative of Muriel, as she truly was someone who embraced life, always looking for and seeing the good in it. Over the years we had a lot of fun times and giggles too, and I grew to love and adore her.
In closing I just want to say, Thank you Muriel for being such a blessing in my life you will be in my heart always!!

Muriel was such a special and amazing lady. and so much fun :)She taught me so much - I loved working with her. I told her once when she was around 60 that if I had half the energy that she had when I was 40 I would be happy. because of course I was in my 20's and thought 40 was so old. She will be so sadly missed. Loved her lots.

I was so sad to hear of Muriels passing. She was a loving, thoughful mother-in-law and an amazing woman who I will always admire. Muriel's goodness lives on forever in her grandchildren and great grandchildren and great greats! and we are all so lucky to have had her in our lives. "The past is never fully gone.It is absorbed into the present and the future. It stays to shape who we are and what we do".
