Murphy was not only a gentleman, but a friend. We first met Murphy when he was a sales representative for his family business and called on us at Pavlic's Supermarket in Diboll in the early fifties. He was our produce and frozen food supplier. Our friendship grew over the years, and we always enjoyed Murphy's visit at the store or at the Pine Bough for breakfast or coffee. We much admired Murphy's years of service to the community, and we were always so proud to hear of his many accomplishments and awards. They were well deserved. We will certainly miss our friend.

Mr. George was one of the finest men I have ever had the honor of knowing. He served on the board at the bank where I worked, and was someone I came to admire immediately because of his knowledge in so many areas, and kindness to so many people. Myself included. My sincere sympathy to his family, may God bless you all.

What a loss to all of us. I have known Murphy George since I was a child growing up here in Lovelady. He was then a salesman for the family business. What a gentleman! His wife, Betty, was from Crockett and a very gracious and beautiful lady. What a handsome couple they made. The world has lost a great person.

No finer man, no better mentor, no greater friend to our family for a lifetime, and certainly no more even tempered and jovial employer ever lived than "Uncle" Murphy, as he was affectionately known to so many of us. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He touched so many lives in so many wonderful ways. May God bless all of the family at this time. Our prayers are with each of you as we celebrate a life well spent on this earth.
