Murray Krausert Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 29 to Dec. 31, 2006.
KRAUSERT _ (Sam) Murray Grant 1928 - 2006 It is with great remembrance that we announce the passing of (Sam) Murray Grant Krausert on Saturday, December 23, 2006 in Calgary at the age of 78 years. Sam was a dear, loving husband, inspirational father, generous grandfather, great-grandfather, and loyal, trusted friend. Born on August 19, 1928 in Ankerton, AB, he was the first son of Lawrence and Betty Krausert. Sam's youth was spent on Whiskey row in Turner Valley where he received his education and graduated from TVT. As a young boy he delivered newspapers in hail, sleet and snow while perfecting his whistling skills. Sam became involved with the emerging oil and gas industry in Alberta. He started working as a roughneck with Imperial Oil and Royalite Oil. He then worked with Reed Roller Bit Company for thirteen years and became the Western Canada District Manager. Sam and Eunice helped co-found Beaver Drilling in 1965. For many years he served on the board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors (CAODC) and was President in 1978. Sam was honoured as lifetime member for his significant achievements in the oil and gas industry in 2002. He was also a Director of Western Rock Bit Ltd. Throughout Sam's career, Eunice was a source of strength, a partner in life, family and business. For over three decades they spent their winters with lifelong friends in Wailea, Maui where Sam became President of the Wailea Ekahi Condominium Association. During that time he became a very skilled tennis player - a sport that he loved dearly. Another pleasure he enjoyed was to spend a day at his farm. At harvest time you would always find him driving a grain truck. He loved trail riding in the mountains with close friends and grandchildren on his trusted horse "Champ". To celebrate the year 2000, Sam and four grandchildren hiked the Chilkoot Trail, Alaska, once again in hail, sleet and snow. He was also a member of the Pegasus Club at Spruce Meadows where he volunteered for fifteen years in the Clock Tower. Sam always gave a helping hand when needed. Without asking, he was always there with gloves on and broom in hand. His humour and quick wit brought laughter and joy to everyone. He will be lovingly remembered for his vision, his loyalty, his sense of humour and his dedication to his family. In the last few years, Sam battled the demons of Alzheimer's disease. He will be dearly missed! Sam is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years Eunice (Rye); children, Brian (Donna), Keith (Debbie) and Dianne; grandchildren, Jennifer, Murray, Kevin, Lindsay, Tyler, Ashley, Conrad, and Samuel; and great-grandson Palmer. He is also survived by his sister Dolores Kambouroff; and brother Russ of Atlanta, GA. A very special thank you to his loyal and loving caregiver Juliet. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway's Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com .
