Christopher Olando Wade

Christopher Orlando Wade ?Chris?, of Roanoke, with patience and steadfast faith in God passed quietly from this world and entered his well-deserved rest on Thursday, June 6, 2013. Chris was born in Bedford, VA to Dr. Estelle B. Wade and the Elder Samuel A. Wade Sr. He was educated in the Bedford City Public School System, after which he served in the U.S. Army. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Elder Samuel A. Wade Sr., a brother, Samuel A. Wade Jr. and a nephew, Alfonza M. Wade.

Chris accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. Chris? talents ranged from building homes, to singing and playing the keyboard. At church and at home family would often gather around while he played the piano. Although a quiet person he always found a way to make people comfortable and laugh.

Left to cherish his memory and celebrate his life are his mother, Dr. Estelle B. Wade; his daughter, Joan Anthony, of Bedford, VA; two sisters, Zeliou (Bill) Harris, of Lynchburg, VA and Yvonne Taylor, of Roanoke, VA; three brothers, Harold (Jewel) Wade, Deveron ?Cody? Anderson and Eric (Janice) Wade, all of Roanoke; a devoted friend, Linda Henderson; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the VA Medical Center Palliative Care Unit for their care during Chris? recent illness. A special thanks to all the nurses who made his last days more comfortable.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013, in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel with Superintendent William Coles officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
