Marie's book informed me of Nadia's life and last days. And I now also feel your loss. Nadia and my Mother were loving women, involved in the world and the lives of their children. I have determined that my Mom's passing made me sad but also stronger, enthusiastic and optimistic. That was my Mom's gift to me and I believe the same gift your Mom gave to you. Because based on what I have heard and read, God graced our mothers to encourage us to love and protect all on this blue planet. That was my conclusion regarding your Mother's remarkable and devoted life. May Nadia rest in everlasting peace.

Andre and Masha, At Kent 1984, your mom took over my German class on short notice and what a gift she was. She had light in her eyes and was quick to laugh. It meant a lot to hear her explain the German language and culture based on her life there. I have thought of her and your family fondly ever since. I'm glad she had such a long full life, and I know she was over the moon proud of your accomplishments. I would have liked to have seen her again to say thank you. M, many like me knew about your parents and their command of 4 or 5 languages, their experiences in the worst times in Russia and Germany. We've seen alumni and newspaper articles for decades about your service in the State Department. Speaking for those familiar with where you've come from and what you've done, we've always felt confident and proud of you as an outstanding representative for the best of what America stands for. A heartfelt thank you.

She raised her daughter to be intelligent, courageous, loyal, truthful and with a huge heart. We American ex-pats in Canada are proud to call Marie Canadian by birth and American by dedication. Thank you, Marie. Your service to America and a world threatened by authoritarianism is shining forth. Now, take some time to be gentle with yourself.

Nadia was gracious and welcoming to me from the first time we met. Her generous, joyful and industrious spirit will remain with me always. I hope that the family will be comforted in the thoughts of all the people whose lives she has touched for the better.

Nadia was a very special person. She was my German teacher at Kent School in Connecticut. Her husband was my French teacher and advisor. The Yovanovitchs were a second family to me while at boarding school. Nadia greatly influenced my life for the better. I think of her often. Her and her husbands kindness constantly are with me. I profoundly miss her.
