Nancy Astor Ruple Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 23, 2025.
Nancy Astor Ruple (née Rueda), of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away at age 57 on July 16, 2025. Born on April 4, 1968, in Staten Island, New York, Nancy lived a life marked by warmth, generosity, and unwavering resilience.

After graduating from St. Paul's School in 1986, Nancy earned her bachelor's degree in English Literature from Middlebury College in 1990. Her love of language and literature shaped her early years and informed her thoughtful approach to both work and life. She built a successful career in the financial services industry, spending nearly 15 years at AIG before recently beginning a new chapter at U.S. Bank.

Throughout her life, Nancy was known for her upbeat spirit, radiant smile, and the grace with which she faced every challenge. Her generosity extended beyond her family and friends into the broader community. As a devoted Christian, she found joy in combining her faith with one of her greatest passions-cooking-by preparing and serving meals weekly at church events.

Nancy's home was often filled with the comforting aromas of her culinary creations and the laughter of loved ones gathered around her table. She also found great joy in traveling and reading-pursuits that reflected her curiosity about the world and deep appreciation for its many cultures and stories.

She is survived by her beloved husband Grant Ruple; their daughter Catherine Ruple; her brother Richard Rueda; sister Monica Williams; brothers-in-law Rufus Williams and Terry Mertink; sister-in-law Rona Mertink; nieces Gracyn, Olivia, Cecilia, and Isabelle Williams, Lydia Hyatt, and Emily Spell; nephew Caleb Mertink; and father-in-law Ronald Ruple.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Amparo and Alfonso Rueda and mother-in-law Connie Ruple.

Nancy will be remembered for the light she brought into every room and the kindness she extended-whether as a friend, family member, or a good cook-to all who crossed her path.

A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in West Palm Beach, FL, in the coming days.

My Aunt Nancy was more than just an aunt - she was like a second mom to me. Her love, guidance, and warmth shaped my life in more ways than I can count. She was the kind of person who made everyone feel special, who always knew just what to say, and who had a heart big enough to hold the whole world.

I will miss her deeply - her laugh, her hugs, her wisdom, and the way she always made me feel seen and loved. The memories we shared together will forever live in my heart, and I´ll carry them with me every day. From our quiet talks to the moments of joy and laughter, she gave me a lifetime of love in the time we had.

I´ll never forget all the times she brought me with her to the city for work, the unforgettable broadway shows we experienced together, and the countless meals she lovingly cooked for me. She gave so much of herself without ever asking for anything in return-truly one of the most selfless people I´ve known.

Aunt Nancy, you were the best aunt a girl could ever ask for. Thank you for being my family, my role model, and my safe place. I love you always.

My heart is with Catherine and Grant during this difficult time-you're both in my thoughts every single day.

Your niece,
Olivia

Nancy was the brightest of spirits and a true inspiration to all. She made my childhood beautifully memorable as a devout aunt. Between watching me run around at various playgrounds to staying up all night in bed with us while my youngest sister was born, Nancy was the most wonderful, loving soul. She will be greatly missed each and every day. Her aura will always be felt by those who knew her and reminds everyone touched by her to always approach every obstacle with a smile. My aunt will forever remain one of my biggest role models. Rest in peace we all love you so much!

I feel very fortunate that I was able to enjoy Nancy´s friendship for the last 6 years. I met her through our mutual friend Nancy Heilner. We became great friends immediately and our daughters became good friends as well. She was such a kind and compassionate human being. I really enjoyed every meeting we had. I loved her stories about her international trips with her brother while Catherine was still a little child.
She was a devoted wife and mother. I feel very sad and I will miss her always.
