I remember picking her up at the bus depot in Los Angeles with Doug Hooper her friend from Washington state 1960 and dropping her off at her Hollywood hotel or apartment.
I believe this was her beginning of her Hollywood days

Nancy and I met when she lived in an apartment in Gig Harbor and she called me to help rescue a cat in her parking lot. She was so worried because she knew where he came from, that hed been mistreated and was ill. I took him, helped him regain health and trust and let him build his strength back up in the Harbor Hope Cat Rescue shelter. He hid in a small wooden boat for the first several days, earning him the name, Gilligan. Nancy moved to Ellensburg, but we kept in touch and I kept an eye open for a GH rental at her request. I gave her regular updates on Gilligan and his new best friend, Meeko. When she moved back to GH just around the corner from me, she adopted both kitties, saying that her daughter had told her that they needed to stay together. Somehow I think that even without Stacis encouragement, it would have ended up that way, but thank you for the backup, Staci! Nancy always remembered me with a birthday card. She was a dear, fun, (although I never imagined just HOW much fun!) thoughtful and caring person and Im better for having had her in my life. I know Gilligan, Meeko and all the Mickeys were there to greet her, purring. We all love you, dear Nancy.

Nancy played an important role in the woman I have become. She was a surrogate mother figure when I was so very young - so different than anything or anyone I had ever known. My introduction to Nancy was through my childhood friendship with her daughter, Staci. And, while we all grew apart, Nancy and I reconnected some years back and would stay in touch via Christmas cards/letters. She had so much depth to her - an endless ability to make those in her life feel accepted, loved, cherished. An amazing woman who will live on through so many who have been blessed by her friendship!

Goodbye old friend, it's been a great voyage with you. I'll see you on the other side of the Rainbow bridge someday. Don't let all those Mickey kitties trip you like Charlie liked to do. I love you!!

I lived with Nancy for a year. She was full of life. She adored her cats, especially Micky. I was introduced to her through the Visers family. Many interesting stories. I will miss her.

While I did not know Nancy personally, I knew her through her daughter Staci, who is a great friend and confidante, to myself and others. Nancy was an exceptional woman, intelligent and independent, before it became "accepted" for women to be that way. She pushed the boundaries and beyond for what was accepted for women, and was definately a woman before her time. She has passed the best of her talents, abilities and intelligence to her daughter Staci Layne Wilson. Of all the positive and wonderful things Nancy experienced and did in her life, and my goodness, what a fabulous and glamourous life Nancy did live - the stuff Hollywood dreams are made of - what we could say about Nancy, her best epitaph and legacy, is her daughter Staci. RIP Nancy. And live it up in the afterlife!

I feel very blessed to have known such a beautiful kind heated soul. I love you and I will miss you dearly. Mickey and Charlie are with me and my family and we will love them until you are reunited. The brightest light on my Christmas tree went out on December 16th. I first met Nancy through Leo Guild, a writer and editor with Holloway House Publishing during the summer of 1957. I met her husband Don Wilson at Nancy's apartment in West Hollywood. I don't remember the occasion, but two things stand out in my mind. First, her ocelot liked the taste of my skin and gorged on a part of my arm. Also, Don said he was with a small musical group. When I asked the name, he said, "The Ventures." My face turned beet red because They had the number one hit in the country. The publisher at Holloway House often speculated as who wrote most of Leo's books - Nancy or me. It became a running joke. Nancy was responsible for my moving, with my two young boys, to Idyllwild, California in 1980. I moved down to Hemet and she later moved to Lake Tahoe and then on to Gig Harbor. I visited her there twice. One thing I particularly remember about her house in Gig Harbor, she had the largest blackberries in her yard that I ever saw and I came away with purple berry stain on my face both times. We were always close. Her daughter Staci and my son Mark grew up together. My heart split right down the middle when Mark called to tell me Nancy was gone. I didn't want to believe it. She was born on August 16 and left earth on December 16th. She will always be sweet 16. I miss you, old pal.
