Nancy Bobbitt Obituary

Nancy Carolyn Weaver Bobbitt, age 88, passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, at Wake Forest Univ. Baptist Hospital, Winston Salem, with family by her side.

Carolyn was born January 21 1938 to Walter William Weaver and Lottie Brewer Weaver in Springfield, MA. A Durham High School 1957 graduate, she married Archie Leo Bobbitt at the age of 18 in Calvary Baptist Church, Durham, NC. Widowed by her husband in March 10 2001, Carolyn lived alone in Cana, VA, surrounded by kitties on the mountain. Carolyn loved to listen to sermons and was a self-proclaimed carpenter around the house.

Carolyn was an elementary art teacher, enjoyed ballroom dancing, collected family mementos, and read books until sight damaged by cataracts. She rescued orphaned cats and was surrounded by love.

Recently living at the Hillsville Nursing and Rehab in Hillsville, VA, Carolyn was known for a unique wit, kindness, and will be remembered fondly by family and friends.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Mark Kendall Bobbitt (Conway, SC), sister Martha Weaver Powell and husband, Wayne Powell (Cary, NC), brother David B. Weaver and wife, Connie Weaver (Chuckey, TN), and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Roach Weaver (Raleigh, NC). Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Lottie Weaver, her brothers Tommy Weaver, Billy Weaver, Bobby Weaver, and daughter, Amy Lynn Bobbitt, who passed August 5, 2024 from breast cancer. Her dearly loved best friend, Vicki Umbarger, helped Carolyn travel to medical treatments, settle in her new home in the Hillsville Nursing facility, and will miss their 'Ethel & Lucy' escapades most of all.

A grave site service will be on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Mount Bethel Moravian Graveyard, in Cana, Virginia. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
