Nancy Callison Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 31, 2025.
It is with broken hearts that we announcing the passing of our beloved Nancy Callison. Nancy passed away peacefully after a short illness. Nancy is survived by sister Donna and aunt Ethel Hoskins.

Nancy grew up in Vacaville and attended school here, including Elm Elementary School. Later, she returned to Elm and volunteered at the school library. She and her Aunt who taught there during that time shared many fun stories. Nancy, when working for the County Office of Education for 33 years, learned and used the Heimlich maneuver. She even used it to save a couple of people that were choking, and even taught her Aunt how to do it (which then saved two lives!). Nancy became proficient in simple communication through sign language.

She went on many trips with family members including one to Dallas. She was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan at that time and got the opportunity for a private tour of the stadium and locker rooms and having her picture taken next to her favorite player's locker! Soon that passion was replaced by the Golden State Warriors. However, the team she most loved was the Boston Red Sox. Last year she got to travel to Boston where she and her sister Donna attended three games, including one game where she got to sit behind the "green monster". That was on her bucket list--attending a game at Fenway Park and sitting above the green monster.

Her very favorite vacation spot was Mission Ranch in Carmel where she and her sister spent many visits there and had the great fortune to see Clint Eastwood on a few occasions. Clint Eastwood definitely held a large spot in her heart. From his start as Rowdy Yates on Rawhide to all the spaghetti westerns to the Harry Callaghan streets of San Francisco movies and many movies thereafter, he was always #1 with her. While staying at Mission Ranch, Nancy just enjoyed the quiet serenity of sitting on the porch and watching the field of sheep.

She was also a very good cook, and the family dinners were made more special with Nancy's salads and her bean casseroles. They were family favorites for years.

Nancy was active in Rainbow Girls, and then joined the Order of the Eastern Star where she was active for 50+years, holding varying offices. Along with her dad, she served on the Rainbow Advisory Board. Nancy will be missed, and we are so thankful for her life and her gift to us.

Nancy had a very kind, loving and generous heart. She was a devoted and loving Daughter, Sister, Niece and Friend. She was truly an angel walking the earth. Nancy's other great passion was cats. No cat every went hungry while in her neighborhood.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents Louis (Don) and Jean Callison and older sister Helen Callison.

A celebration of life is scheduled in Nancy's memory on Saturday, September 27 at 11:00 AM located at Joyful Ranch, 8212 Pleasants Valley Road, Vacaville. Please - in lieu of flowers, Nancy would appreciate any donation to your favorite local animal rescue center.

So sorry for your loss, and I noticed that she was a Rainbow Girl and OES, is this both in Vacaville? I am active with Vacaville and Vallejo Assemblies IORG and I will make sure her name is entered into the appropriate memory book. Janice Kirkley 707-374-6878 home number
