Nancy Flounders
BETHLEHEM
Nancy Flounders, 82, of Bethlehem, PA, passed away on March 19, 2019.
She was born Dec. 8, 1936, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late William and Mary (McGeehin) Oar.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Walter Flounders, in 1992.
Nancy loved her job as a secretary in the Fred B. Rooney Building, which allowed her to be close to her mother, who was a resident.
She was a very active parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic minister, served on the decorating committee, and assisted with wedding ceremonies in the church.
She was a longtime volunteer at Musikfest and loved to dance, even appearing on American Bandstand.
Nancy loved her husband, Robert, until the day he died, but that did not stop her from rooting for Roger Staubach and the Dallas Cowboys with her son, even when they faced her husband's favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
Nancy's laughter and joy in life will be always celebrated by her children, Robert Flounders of Harrisburg; Susanne Fritz of Bethlehem; Amy Baker and her husband, Tom, of Bethlehem, as well as her sister, Patricia (John) McHale of Chagrin Falls, OH; cousin, Janie McCrystal, and best friend, Elaine Smith and her husband, Jim.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary McBrearty and Catherine Hill.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home. The family will receive guests at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18020 on Saturday, March 23, 2019, from 10 to 11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial to immediately follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be private for immediate family members.
Please remember Nancy by doing an Irish jig or hugging and kissing your loved ones a little extra today.
Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy's honor to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601. Condolences may be offered at connellfuneral.com.

Dear Bob,

I have missed seeing your mom in the neighborhood and am very sorry to hear of her death. She was certainly proud of your accomplishments, which she would share with me when we chatted. I hope you and your sisters have many happy memories to help you through this difficult time.
