Nancy Garrett Stuart Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 26, 2024.
It is with a heavy heart and immense sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Marie Garrett Stuart, beloved wife, stepmother, grandmother, sister and aunt. After a lengthy and valiant fight with cancer, Nancy passed away on July 18, 2024 in the presence of her beloved husband, the love of her life for 35 years, William Stuart (Bill).

Nancy was born on October 21, 1960 to beloved parents, John Joseph Jr. and Ginger Garrett (nee Galvin). She grew up in Forest Hills, New York and attended high school at the Notre Dame School in Manhattan from which she graduated in 1978. An academic standout, she attended the University of Virginia. Upon her graduation in 1982, Nancy joined Smith Barney where she had a 30-year career in financial marketing across the mergers of many major financial institutions before retiring as Vice President of Marketing in estate planning at Citigroup.

Nancy was a lover of New York City where she happily resided in Stuyvesant Town and of the beach town, Point Lookout, NY where she spent her summers since childhood. From every one of these neighborhoods and schools, Nancy formed friendships she would go on to value for her lifetime.

Many will remember Nancy with her big black Nikon camera, making sure to capture every moment. She embraced every moment with friends and family and was known to be the last one to leave the party. She could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. Her loss will be felt by many.

Nancy was predeceased in life by her parents, John and Ginger Garrett and her beloved brother John Joseph Garrett, III. She is survived by her adoring husband, Bill, step son Billy (Robyn), granddaughters Emily, Allie and Mollie; her siblings Kathy (Stan), Mary (Dave), Michael, adored nieces and nephews Colin, Ella, Maya, Sean and Christopher; sisters-in law Carol (Bobby, deceased) Alice(Frank) and a large and deeply loved extended Stuart family.
