Nancy Jean Gibbs was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, and friend. Nancy Jean Nixon was born February 3, 1940 to William C. and Catherine Coleman Nixon of Fresno. Nancy spent her childhood in Fresno and graduated Fresno High School Class of 1957. She was very active in cheerleading and socializing and never met a stranger she wouldn't talk to. She spent most summers at the family cabin in Huntington lake and later in Shaver Lake. One summer day while in Shaver she met the love of her life. Nancy was a city girl who fell in love with a big country boy named Gary Gibbs. He was from Sanger but lived and worked in Shaver for the summer. They soon married in September, 1959 and settled in Sanger, Ca. where they raised their two children, Robert and Janet. In 1975, they moved further out to Wildwood Island Lake in the Sanger river bottom. Nancy worked for Bank of America, Sanger branch for almost 15 years and later at the Shaw-Villa Clovis branch. She was very busy while her kids and grandkids were in school and was always their biggest and loudest fan as her voice could be heard a mile away when she was excited. Nancy's love for children also led her to volunteer at Fresno Community Medical Center taking photos of the newborn babies. She did that for a couple of years until she and Gary joined Sunnyside Country Club. She decided to retire from BofA so she could devote more time to golf and being a grandma. She was the best grandma involving her daily life with her family and loved spoiling them. She loved taking the family and friends to their cabin in Shaver Lake and snow skiing at China Peak. The family skied down the slopes together and they looked like a pack of elves racing down the slopes with much love and laughter in the air. Nancy also loved taking her family to their Pine Mountain Lake cabin where the grandkids loved to go. After a few years on the Sunnyside Country Club Women's Golf team, she became the club president and loved it. When Gary retired, their passion for traveling and golfing increased after they spent time in a motor home traveling to golf courses in California and Oregon. They fell in love with the motor home scene so much they eventually resigned from the club and bought a brand new motor home traveling around the United States. They eventually set up residence in South Dakota each summer and Palm Springs or Arizona each winter. They met so many wonderful people and made so many friends across America. After Gary's passing in May of 2013, Nancy's heart was broken. She sold their motor home and house and retired to The Woods Sr. Mobile Home Park in Clovis, CA. She loved the convenience of town and loved her two young dogs. Her dogs brought her much joy and were her devoted companions while she struggled to be strong and healthy. Unfortunately, her failing health didn't allow her life to be the same without her big old country boy. On January 3, 2015, Nancy died peacefully in her bed as she met the Lord. He provided her peace and joy by joining her with Him and with Gary once again. Nancy is survived by her brother; step-sister; three cousins; two children; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many wonderful friends. Remembrances may be made to
