Nancy Haunty Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 29, 2016.
Nancy Ann Haunty

Nancy Ann Haunty passed away peacefully at the age of 46 on May 13, 2016 after a 6-1/2 year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Nancy is survived by her husband, Jake Haunty of Shoreline, WA; her brother, Bill LeBoeuf, Jr. of Sherman Oaks, CA; her mother, Dr. Sally LeBoeuf of Edmonds, WA; and her father, Dr. Bill LeBoeuf of Huntington Beach, CA. Nancy is also survived by a wonderful community of broader family and friends.

Nancy was born on July 24, 1969 in Long Beach, CA. At age 11, she moved to Rogers, Arkansas with her mother, brother, and maternal grandparents. Nancy excelled as a student and as a trumpet player prior to graduating from Rogers High School in 1987. She attended Drury College (Springfield, MO) on a music scholarship, working numerous part-time jobs to help fund her education. Nancy graduated Cum Laude in 1991 with a double major in Economics and Business Administration and a minor in Biology. She continued her education at Washington University (St. Louis, MO) where she earned a Masters in Health Administration. Nancy moved to Seattle in 1994, taking a job in healthcare information technology with PHAMIS, Inc. Nancy's career in healthcare IT spanned 20 successful years before she retired from UW Medicine's Information Technology Services department in 2014 due to her cancer treatment.

Nancy married Jake in Florence, Italy in September, 2001. She was initially diagnosed with breast cancer a year later. Nancy was an amazing combination of courage, compassion, intelligence, love, and faith. The love she shared with Jake was deep and complete. She was the source of Jake's courage and strength during her years-long battle with breast cancer. Nancy's great fortitude was an inspiration to many as she ran two 1/2 marathons and summited Mount Adams with the support of Team Survivor Northwest. Nancy will missed but never forgotten by the multitudes who loved her.

A memorial service to give thanks for Nancy's life will be held at 1:00 pm on June 2 at University Presbyterian Church in Seattle.

I will never forget the Point B Getaway at Sleeping Lady in Leavenworth. It was 2002, and Jake and Nancy (the "Golden couple") were mostly into each other, very in love...but took time to play with and entertain my 6 month old twin girls.

I did not know her well, but I do know that she an intelligent, beautiful and gracious soul. My prayers are with you Jake and family.

Nancy was indeed a remarkable woman/lady. She is one whose Footsteps in the sands of time give us hope. To borrow from H W Longfellow, "Footprints that perhaps another, sailing o'er life's solemn main, a forlorn and shipwrecked brother, seeing shall take heart again." Nancy gave us an example of HOPE!!! Hope for the future. Thank you Nancy for all you have done for those of us left behind.

Nancy was a beautiful, graceful, intelligent, funny, selfless, caring person. She had a soft spoken confidence, a beautiful wit, a love for adventure and a heart of gold that will live on forever. Nancy was one of a kind. I love you Nancy, and I cherish all the time I had with you.

Oh Nancy. She was such a sweet soul. Her mom was my doctor at one point and soon after I found out Nancy and Bill were her children. I never heard her say a bad thing about anyone..rich, poor, any ethnicity, in the popular crowd or just trying to fit in. Her smile could brighten your day. Goodbye Nancy. You will be missed by so many people.
