FREY JOHNSON-- Nancy Sale, August 15th, 1949 - September 8th, 2022. Nancy Sale Frey Johnson - a devoted mother and friend, who brought endless love, loyalty and laughter into the lives of many, has died at her home in Jupiter, FL. She was 73. A dedicated rider, a generous philanthropist, an avid golfer, and a guardian to all animals, Nancy Sale Frey Johnson or "Sale" as she was called by her friends and family, had an unwavering dedication to uplifting the lives of those around her as well as experiencing all the wonders of life. She was born in St. Louis, MO to Robert and Melisse Frey. A natural athlete and leader, Sale was captain of varsity basketball, softball, volleyball, swimming, field hockey, and tennis. She toured nationally on the junior tennis circuit and swam AAU (the Amateur Athletic Union), and went on to attend the University of Miami. Loved and admired by her peers, she then captained the varsity tennis team as a freshman in college. Upon graduation, Sale worked in real estate marketing in Miami, and served as an advisor to the Miami County School Board's Distributive Education Program, where she helped young adults gain skills to prepare for their vocations. In 1982, Sale moved to New York City with her husband and daughters. During this time, Sale was devoted to numerous charitable and community efforts such as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), The Morris Animal foundation, The Lenox Hill Neighborhood Association, The Wildlife Conservation Society, the Alzheimer's Foundation, as well as the Lupus Research Alliance. Sale's main area of philanthropic interest was in autoimmune research, particularly diabetes and lupus, two diseases which affected her immediate family. Along with her daughter Casey, she co-authored "Managing Your Child's Diabetes," a book that was published in 1994 that she considered to be one of her utmost achievements. Sale was honored for her philanthropic endeavors with several awards throughout her life including the Achievement Award for Volunteer Service given by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine as well as the Rosenwald Award for Outstanding Philanthropy. Sale was a woman of many personal interests. She was an accomplished golfer and won several championships at Atlantic Golf Club, Frenchman's Creek, and Sebonack Golf Club. She also had an illustrious riding career both as a rider herself and patron of the sport. Amongst her many personal wins, her beloved horse Heisman - ridden by Michael Matz - was the #1 qualifier for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics for the United States Equestrian Team. She was also the proud owner of another horse, The General, who won the 1995 Pan American Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Following the retirement of her two stallions, Heisman and Golan, Sale ran an international horse breeding business out of the family farm in Bedminster, NJ. Sale is survived by her siblings Alan and Jimmy, and her three children, Jaime, Daisy and Ava, her granddaughter (Maeve Shulman), nieces and nephews (Amy Frey Grey, Katherine Frey, Lena Frey, James Michael Frey, David Neil Frey), her Goddaughter Katie Schecter, and ten cousins. Sale was pre- deceased by her daughter Casey and was married twice: to Robert Wood Johnson IV and Ahmad Rashid, both of whom survive her. Never one to take things lying down, Sale fought an impressive battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Throughout her illness she remained positive and engaged in her treatment. Sale left this earth having lived a full and beautiful life and spent her final days amongst close family, friends and her much adored animals. To honor Sale's memory, donations are being accepted by the Lupus Research Alliance. If you wish to donate please visit: https:// www.lupusresearch.org/
