Nancy Kret Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 22, 2024.
Nancy Lois Kret (née Blaker), aged 94, of Arlington Heights, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2024. Born on September 27, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio, she lived a life characterized by devotion to her family and a commitment to others.

After a brief but impactful career in social work, Nancy taught fifth grade students where she influenced young students with her generosity and compassion. Her dedication to her profession was paralleled only by her dedication to her beloved family.

Nancy leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Robert Kret; her son, Thomas Kret; her daughter, Diane (Thomas) Chuchna; her grandsons, Blake Kret, Christopher (Rene'e) Chuchna, Nicholas Chuchna, Taylor (Ellen) Chuchna; and her great-grandsons, Quentin, Zander, Augustus Chuchna, and great granddaughter Sadie Kret. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred H Blaker and Lilian C Blaker, and her daughter-in-law, Bogumila Kret.

An alumna of North Park Academy and the University of Illinois, Nancy enjoyed reading and interior design, always seeking knowledge and beauty in the world around her. She was a source of strength and inspiration to her family, and her presence will be profoundly missed.

The family has entrusted the Cremation Society of Illinois in Mt Prospect, IL, with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in remembrance of Nancy Lois Kret. Her gentle, feisty, spirit and loving heart will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 15th at 10:00 am, at The Moorings of Arlington Heights in her honor. This will be a joint memorial with her husband Robert Kret who passed away on May 7th, five days after her death. The address is 811 East Central Road, Arlington Heights IL.
