Nancy Jean Lovecchio passed away after her fight with cancer on January 27, 2025. She was the daughter of Richard and Genevieve Hapanowicz of Utica, NY.

On September 27, 1975, she married Cosmo Lovecchio Jr. at Holy Trinity Church in Utica, NY.

Nancy is a graduate of Holy Trinity School, DeSales High School, and then earned her associates degree from Mohawk Valley Community College. She resided most of her life in North Syracuse, NY where she worked at Dominick Falcone Insurance Agency as well at James Square Rehabilitation Center as a recreation coordinator, which included pet therapy with her dogs. She enjoyed her friendships with all who worked with her and considered all of them part of her family.

Nancy was very passionate about her four-legged friends. Throughout the years, she enjoyed training her dogs, showing them, and even winning awards.

In her retirement, Nancy moved to Sun City West, Arizona where she resided for the last 13 years, enjoying baking in a local bakery part time, and making many new friends.

She is predeceased by her husband, Cosmo Jr., who passed away August 28, 2001, after his fight with cancer.

Nancy leaves behind her two sons and their families; Cosmo Lovecchio III, his wife Kimberly (Summa) and their daughters Giada and Emilia. Adam Lovecchio, his wife Teresa (Zielinski) and their children Carter and Melody. Also, her three sisters Laura Hapanowicz, MaryBeth Hapanowicz, Anne and Mike Shakford, and her brother Rick and Diane Hapanowicz. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

The family would like to thank the Litchfield Joy Assisted Senior Living Center and Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Arizona for their compassionate care of their mom during this difficult time. They would also like to give an extra sincere thanks to Aunt Laura and Aunt MaryBeth for their time and love of their mom in her last days.

There will be a private burial and then a luncheon to celebrate Nancy in the near future.

Nancy's remains will reside next to her husband at Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum in DeWitt, NY.

Laura and Mary Beth,

Please accept my condolences for your loss. I have fond and funny memories of Nancy at DeSales. We had a nice telephone visit some years ago when I was helping locate classmates for a reunion. What a blessing that you were able to help care for her when she was sick. You were all such close and loving sisters.

Love and prayers

I am so very saddened to hear about Nancy´s passing. We worked together at The Dominick Falcone Agency, became good friends and shared many laughs over those years. She was so very proud of her sons & it´s hard to believe they are now married with their own children. We lost touch sometime after she moved to Arizona but I always thought of her any time I made a cheeseball which was a recipe she shared with me many years ago.
Rest in Peace Nancy
