Nancy Lund Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 29, 2023.
Nancy Tyndall Knowles Lund passed away on October 26, 2023, at the age of 79, surrounded by family.

Nancy was born in New Haven, Connecticut on June 13, 1944, the oldest daughter of Rex and Jessie Knowles. She spent her childhood years in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Danville, Kentucky, with her four siblings, Anne, Rex, Trudy, and Mark.

Nancy met her husband Larry in Greensboro, N.C. 55 years ago. According to both, it was love at first sight. They eventually settled in St. Paul where they raised their children.

Nancy is predeceased by her precious son Zachary. She is survived by her husband Herbert Lawrence (Larry); her children, Juliet Holder and her husband Daniel from Coon Rapids, MN; Jessica Leth and her husband Steve from Elk River, MN; Eric Lund and his wife Kristen from Bloomington, IN; her godson Isaiah Thomas from Los Angeles, CA; her beloved grandchildren: Joshua, Hannah, Callum, Owen, Juliana, and Emilia; her siblings; their spouses; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

The most important thing to Nancy was family. Nothing made her happier than to sit with her extended family late into the night singing, telling stories, and playing games. Some of her most precious memories were at Knowles family reunions at Clearwater Forest, Minnesota and Lund family reunions out West.

Nancy devoted her life to others through nursing, teaching, and church work. Her gift was in geriatric nursing. Later in her career, she developed and implemented a curriculum to train nursing assistants.

Nancy was a dedicated member of the Macalester Plymouth United Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, the same church her father pastored in the 1970s and 80s. She served on the Fellowship Committee for years, organizing her favorite event, the All-Church Retreat.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Macalester Plymouth United Church, at 1658 Lincoln Ave, St Paul, MN 55105, on November 3, 2023, at 1:00.

I am so very sorry to hear about this. I knew Nancy, Anne, Rex and Mark as well as their wonderful parents during their years in Danville, KY. Nancy always brought light to a room and was so accepting and kind. I will be thinking of them during the coming days. Ginna Larson Schneider

I was advised spiritually by the Lunds as an adolescent member of the Mac-Plymouth Church during my confirmation process. Even as a short-sighted teenager, it was readily apparent to me the degree to which Nancy and Larry had figured out the virtues of commitment, community, kindness, and communication, and that their lives were made up of all the benefits that a shared commitment to those things brings. There are things they told me about being a human being during my time with them that will accompany me throughout my life, and which have only served to improve me in my time on this earth. I am blessed to have known Nancy, I will miss her, and I offer my sincere condolences to all whose lives now lack her.

As trite as it might sound, she truly was one of a kind. She has taken a piece of my heart with her...as well she should have. We are all better human beings for having gotten to share some time with her. With deepest sympathies to the entire family. Dick Knowles

Because of our precious daughters, Jessie and Jess we were so lucky to become friends. There was nobody like Nancy she was loved by all that knew her. We will all miss her kindness and caring spirit.

I met Nancy at her niece Rachel´s wedding and knew right away I´d met an angel. She was the sweetest and kindest person I´d ever met and devoted herself to spreading love. She left us the better.
