Nancy Stroud McGee, age 85, of Danville, Va., went to be home with our Lord on December 11, 2022, after being in declining health for several months.

Mrs. McGee was born on February 28, 1937, in Pelham, N.C., daughter of the late Richmond Hobson Stroud and Jessie Easley Stroud. She was raised in Pelham, N.C. and was member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. She also served as choir director and on various committees at Pelham United Methodist Church. She retired from Corning in Danville after 34 years of service and enjoyed the lifelong friendship of many of her coworkers. Mrs. McGee was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother. She was also an avid Duke basketball fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, John Herndon McGee; four sisters, Gloria Mills, Mildred Markham, Rachel Anderson, and Martha Marchand; and four brothers, Harvey Stroud, Donald Stroud, James Stroud, and William Stroud.

She is survived by one daughter, Nancy M. Ford and husband, Simeon Jr., of Forest, Va.; one son, John H. "Mac" McGee Jr. and wife, June, also of Forest, Va.; four grandchildren, Simeon Ford, III and wife, Deidra, of Austin, Texas, Christen Walczak and husband, Michael, of Chicago, Ill., Allison McGee Rovan and husband, Jon, of Fredericksburg, Va., and Brett McGee of Washington, D.C.; and six great-grandchildren, Simeon Ford IV, Piper Ford, Elise Walczak, Ford Walczak, Ivy Walczak, and Eleanor Rovan.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Townes Funeral Home in Danville with the Rev. Lee Eggers officiating. Interment will follow the service at Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Saturday, prior to the service, from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, 9983 NC Hwy 700, Ruffin, NC 27311, or Pelham United Methodist Church, 594 Red Marshall Rd., Pelham, NC 27311.
