Nancy Ann Pauly, age 64, of ManorCare Health Services, Dubuque, formerly of 5008 West Lane, Cuba City, Wis., and Dubuque, passed away at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at ManorCare. A memorial Liturgy of the Word service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Nativity Catholic Church, 1001 Alta Vista St. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Nativity Catholic Church, 1001 Alta Vista St. Nancy was born on July 21, 1946, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Cletus N. and Marcille A. (Goetzinger) Pauly. Nancy graduated from the Visitation Academy in Dubuque in 1964. She then attended Bayless Business College for secretarial and accounting and then Iowa Technical Area 15 Community College for data processing. She was first in the state key punch contest. She received her associate degree in accounting from Northeast Iowa Community College. She worked at John Deere Dubuque Works, Clark Transfer & Storage and John W. Law Co. Nancy was a talented musician and drummer and performed around the tri-state area. Nancy was a member of the Eagles Club Auxiliary, Musicians Union Local 289, the American Federation of Musicians and the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6 Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing, golfing, waterskiing, snow skiing, baseball, basketball, football and softball. Nancy was a Cubs, Lakers and Mavericks fan. She also enjoyed crocheting and made a beautiful dress for her niece. She loved her nieces and nephews. "Nancy was small of stature but big of heart." Survivors: a brother, Dr. Peter (Jeanne) Pauly, of Bellevue, Iowa; a sister, Patricia (Stephen) Althaus, of Dubuque; three nieces, Erin (Michael) Dusil, Rachel (Matt) Stein and Emilly Althaus; two nephews, Steven (Jennifer) Kray and Dr. Cletus "Nick" (Anna) Pauly; 2 great-nieces and 4 great-nephews She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Cletus "Nick" Pauly. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Sisters of the Visitation, 2950 Kaufmann Ave., Dubuque, Iowa 52001. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice of Dubuque and Nancy's special friends at ManorCare, especially Steve "Fred" and Tim, for their care and concern for Nancy.
