Nancy and Janet:
It was around Labor Day a year ago that Mary, Lisa and I stopped out at Pleasant Ridge to see your Aunt Nancy. We had not been aware that Nancy had been ill and left St. Joe's apartments so we were glad to figure out where she was and get the chance to see her. I tried, in vain, to find a phone number or an address for both of you after our visit with Nancy so we could connect with you and let you know we had been there.

We all have many memories of your Aunt Nancy from the time that we were little girls and our Mother would take us to your Grandmother's house at 6th and Plumsitting around the kitchen table listening to all the old stories from their days living across the park. Lots of laughter and something the three of us loved to do with our Mom. I also clearly remember when everyone was in town the 3 Doyle sisters would get dressed up and go out for the evening with the 3 Whiteby sisters....I actually have some great photos from one of those events. There was never a doubt that the 6 of them knew how to enjoy each other. I can still hear the laughter all these years later.

Nancy was always a source of honestly with a real wit. She was genuinely happy to see you regardless of how long it had been and the conversation always went to all of her nieces and nephews who were an important part of her life. I am sad that Nancy is gone but I know that the last years of her life were not the kind of life Nancy enjoyed living. It is comforting to know that she is at peace but it is sad to realize that the very last of the 7 Doyle cousins and the 6 Whitby cousins is now gone.

Please contact me so that we have some way of being directly in touch with both of you. I know you were very good to your Aunt and I extend my sympathies to you and the rest of your families on her passing. Sincerely, Carol Renz Blake and Family

Dear Whitby Clan,

I am so sorry the Nancy I remember from the last time I saw her is no longer with us. I would love to include her "camp" nickname here as a bit of humor in her honor...hopefully just mentioning this will bring you a smile and good remembrances. I'm lucky to have many fond memories of her and the whole gang.

My best to you all.
